Nicole had to share it with Sims from the Sulkey Mulkeys. I am glad Nicole is getting some recognition. She is really improved. I would like bto see Jo get some recognition. She is a monster on the boards.

Bunch of picking on Nicole early on. Glad to see this and hope some of our posters are tasting just a bit of crow right now.

:clap

Nicole has worked her rear off and taken her game to another level from the last two years. She's not perfect, and still has to become more consistent and improve her rebounding, but I think her improved play has won us a few games this year. Congrats to her and and here's hoping she improves as much next year as she did this year!

I presume that Mulkey has not had any press conferences where she can denigrate any other player besides her own.

I was one of them and still am at times. She's worked so hard and her improvement this year has been amazing.

Nicole is very deserving. She had an outstanding week. She was dominant in the Bedlam game. :woot

Her maturation has been slow and steady, so proud of all the hard work she has put forth to be a force in the middle for us. A very deserving honor for our Sooner. Looking forward to many more excellent outings from Nicole.

I've seen Nicole Griffin play in several games this year and has shown vast improvement from last season. She has added several low post moves and become an excellent passer from the high post. Also, she has become more aggressive on defense and going strong to the bucket. Now if she can develop an outside shot then your team is dangerous!

I also agree that Jo deserves more recognition. Her all out effort is inspiring and provides instant motivation. IMO, she needs to lay off the 3 and just post up where along with Griffin could make a great high-low team.

It seemed to me that we spent the summer criticizing Griffin and McFarland, especially Griffin. Yet, they have become a primary reason that we are able to dominate the middle against most teams. Although we had heard for two years that it was difficult to shoot over Griffin, we tended to ignore her good points. Jo was singled out by the Miami coach as the one that beat them in the Round of 32 with her rebounding. Yet, when she didn't do well after her broken jaw, we pretty much dropped her.

I am elated that both have begun to show how good they are and can be. Right now, we are pretty good as a front five, and we will go about as far as we can with only five players who appear ready to contribute in a crunch. If only two of the other three could step up, we might actually surprise some teams.

I don't think we want Jo to stop shooting 3s as she is shooting 38% BTA this year, which is actually better than Morgan and Sharane. The thing that scares me the most about Jo is making unnecessary fouls as she can't help when Sherri has to put her on the bench. Otherwise, I love her intensity.

I agree, Norm. I'm sure the opposition would like to see her stop shooting 3's because they are a dagger in the heart. They count as much as 1.5 dunks. Having a power forward that can hit the outside shot has long been a staple of OU's offense. Joanna has become the reincarnation of Caton Hill.

Coach Coale talks about how rebounding is a large part "want to" and how Jo has about as much "want to" as you can have. She wants to be first in every thing - first to the ball for a rebound, first in line, highest grade point, first in Tiddly Winks - just *first*! I wonder how much of that is a result of being the youngest of 3 basketball-playing McFarland women?
