Guards next year.....

Gary, I guess you and I have seen different practices. The ones I have been to, I saw Bennett and Spangler shooting pretty good. Bottom line for me is:"I am very excited for what I see in this years team, and really very excited for what I see next year".

They do shoot pretty good from short range. Have you seen them stepping out and hitting 10 footers?

No but hornbeake a good option with Woodard running the point

I love the potential out of Je'lon, but he did clank one off the backboard from the top of the key last night. He isn't near the shooter Pledger is.

i wouldn't go that far. Its a small sample size but He is outshooting him this year

I saw that as well. I see Hornbeak as more of a "scorer" down the road than a pure "shooter." I would still like to see Lon bring in another pure shooter to replace Pledge. Several here are paying too much attention to Pledge's "percentage" and not enough to the fact the opposition will not leave him alone for a second...resulting in some open space down low.

The type of three point shots Je'lon takes compared to Pledger are night and day. On Je'lon's make last night there wasn't a guy within 15ft of him due to a halfcourt breakdown by UT. Pledger is coming off designed curls and flares to get a look that have a much higher degree of difficulty. In addition, he isn't going to have the luxury of breakdowns like that, defenders are trailing him on every screen. One thing he needs to do a better job of is shot-faking off the catch, would open up a TON of mid range shots. He is shooting 47% from inside the arc.

Thought he did a good job last night of playing within himself and not forcing some unnecessary jumpers, sans his first fall away three of the game. UT actually did a pretty good job of making him take long two's, so give them credit for that.

So you think Osby and Clark are the best three point shooters on the team?

Shooting percentages don't always tell the entire story.

Exactly. That is invaluable. At times, he can go stand in the corner (it's not lazy, I guarantee LK has planned it that way), and basically open up the floor for 4-on-4. Much easier to scorer with the floor spread like that. Much easier to finish at the rim when Pledger's defender isn't available to help.

This.

Also, Je'lon is used to playing with bigs (from HS) that allow him to get spacing from the defense compacting and ball reversal. He is used to getting a good look at the bucket and stepping into a shot. Unless I am mistaken, I haven't seen him hit a whole bunch of threes off curls and flares where he has to rapidly get his feet set and body squared.

Okay, I'll agree. We have seen different practices.

No problem, I guess that is why we are all human and have different opinions and ideas, I will just have to continue to put my trust in LK, and so far I like what I am seeing.
