Gymnastics, women's

Men's and women's championships. There is only ONE Oklahoma. This will be hard to duplicate in he future. What fine coaches we have!

Fine coaches, and both have been at OU a long time.

Women: K.J. Kindler (age 45) .. head coach at OU for 10 years .. 2 national championships.

First head coach in NCAA history to take two separate programs to the NCAA Super Six (Iowa State, 2006; Oklahoma, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016)

************

Men: Mark Williams .. named the head coach at Oklahoma in 2000 .. 7 national championships.

With three NCAA Championships already in the books, the University of Oklahoma men’s gymnastics program was no stranger to success prior to Williams’ arrival. However, Williams has established OU as the nation’s elite program with seven national titles in the past 15 years, claiming crowns in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2015, and most recently in 2016.

Sorry so many had a hard time seeing this. It was exciting to watch. ESPNU is often messed up by Cox in OKC - as it was last night. They ought to refund half of the monthly fees if they can't keep the channels running.

But fortunately it was also on WatchESPN as a streaming video. You just had to go to espn.com and look for it.

Congratulations to the young women and their incredible coach, K.J. Kindler. Anyone who jokes about this accomplishment isn't worth responding to.

I can guarantee the OU football team and Basketball team respect the accomplishments of both the men's and women's gymnastic teams.

Every coach in America could learn a thing or two by watching coach Kindler. Her ability to get her athletes in the moment, confident and relaxed is why we did so well. Dealing with pressure and executing in key to success at the highest level, especially when the slightest twitch could cost the team championship. Just ask Jordan Spieth.

I think that the sourest of the sour grapes was this post:

I think I mentioned the scoring for Oklahoma on FX earlier. It is a joke. They only have 2 gymnasts I think who open with an E pass. LSU has EVERY gymnast in their lineup with an E pass. They also only have 2 or 3 who dismount with a double pike. LSU has 4 and the other two do double tucks while Oklahoma has a few Rudi dismounts which is a joke.

...What is an E pass?

What the Tiger fans don't understand is that tumbling is not the only thing involved in the floor exercise. If they had actually listened to Bart and Kathy, they would know that the dancing that OU does in their FX is superior to any of the other teams and meshes with the choreography.
Even though OU's tumbling is not as spectacular, they don't make mistakes and get higher scores when combined with the dancing.

Congratulations to our Men and Women National Champions. So Sweet.:dance005:

Well, I have to admire any fans that can generate that much conversation on gymnastics, but the attitude is pure typical LSU!

I remember hearing Olympic commentators state that some gymnasts depend almost exclusively on athleticism and triple this and triple that. They said that the judges want to see the artistic skills mixed in with the athletic skills.

We also probably have Dowell coming back for her soph season. She made the national team.

Also a usually good recruiting bunch.
