Have we ever had a starting front line of 6'8, 6'9, 6'10"?

Assuming Reid, Davis, and Wague start that's the size of our starting front line. And there is a 6'9, 6'10 and a 6'11 guy on the bench!! This is one of the tallest OU teams ever. What year were we this tall across the front line? Or have we ever been?
We played some 6'7", 6'10", 6'11" lineups last year ...

2017-18 we had Manek(6-9), Lattin(6-9) McNeace(6-10) and Doolittle(6-8) all play 17 minutes or more. McNeace actually put up some nice numbers per minutes played. 6.8 points 5.4 rebounds in only 18 minutes per game. Doolittle looked like he was setting up to have a great close to his career before Covid hit. 19-2020 was a fairly long team with only one guy under 6-5 that really played. But really the only front line guys were Doolittle and Manek. Kuath played 10 minutes per game off the bench.

Taylor Griffin 6'7", Blake Griffin 6'10", Longar Longar 6'11"
Taylor Griffin 6'7", Blake Griffin 6'10", Ryan Wright 6'9"
Tyler Neal 6'7", Romero Osby 6'8", Andrew Fitzgerald 6'8"
Amath M'Baye 6'9", Romero Osby 6'8", Ryan Spangler 6'8"
Kristian Doolittle 6'7", Khadeem Lattin 6'9", McNeace 6'10"
Kristian Doolittle 6'7", Brady Manek 6'9", Jamuni McNeace 6'10"
Kristian Doolittle 6'7", Brady Manek 6'9", Kur Kuath 6'10"

Early 2000s we had Selvy who was like 6-5 but had crazy ups and played way longer
Jabari Brown was 6-10, Ace McGee and Johnny Gilbert were 6-8. That was a loaded front court.

Height doesn't always mean eveything. Guys shorter like Goo Kennedy, Wm. Davis were really tough under the boards.

Choo.

True enough, but most of my life Kansas always some goliaths who got about 7 fouls a game....maybe 8 at AFH.

and no question we have to bigger, longer, more athletic in this SEC. I remember watching highlights against Miss St and even though we won......they looked like they should have.

Darian Selvy was only around 6-5 was solid PF. And the most prolific rebounder in the Sampson era was Ernie Abercrombie who was 6-4. He averaged 10.1 rebounds a game as a senior and 8.2 in his 2 seasons.

i remember Selvy was pretty active on the baseline. he misses a front end one-one against Indiana in Final Four....that was rough.

Selvy used to take an occasional 3 that drove Kelvin crazy. KS would always bring it up in radio post-game.

1988 was similar.

Stacey King - 6’11”
Harvey Grant - 6’8”
Tony Martin - 6’9”

.. not to get our hopes up lol.
Wasn't David Johnson on that as well? Seager as well if I remember correctly.

In '87, Stacey King was a reserve, and yes, David Johnson was starting alongside Harvey Grant and Choo Kennedy. Dave Seager was starting alongside Grant and King in '88. Tony Martin started alongside King in '89. Different frontcourts for different years :-).

It was 60-60 with just under 4:00 left. Under the current rules, the tv timeout would have been taken before the FT, but back then, you shot first. He missed, and Indiana started their run (we had the momentum going into the FT), and was up by a few when the timeout finally came. I’ve always wondered how that would have played out if he would have made it, or even if the current rules existed.

But it’s been 23 years so I only think of it a few times an hour now. 🤣

As starters, I don’t remember any. In 1988, stacy king, harvey grant and david seiger ( 6’11, 6’9 and 6’7) is the closed in my memory.

If your wondering if we have ever had that height on the roster, I would assume so. Probably several times.

Not having seen many of these guys, either at all or not much, i think wague, davis and brown start. Just my guess.

Surprises for some of you guys will be how good atak and dayton are by next year. Again just my guesses

Blake Griffin's first year. Longar Longar(6-11), Blake(6-10), Taylor Griffin(6-7) Keith Clark(6-8)

The answer to the question in the subject line MIGHT be from the 1973 and 1974 teams. Alvan Adams, Tom Holland and Ted Evans were all 6'9" and all got extensive playing time...but I have no idea if both Holland and Evans started. We may need one of the old-timers to set us straight. Bob Pritchard was a 6'7" small forward on those teams, so he may have been starting over Holland or Evans...I honestly don't know. Either way, I figured it deserves mentioning since Adams was easily the best player in school history until Wayman came along.
