Is Danny Newsome a walk-on? He redshirted last year but if he wasn't good enough to get playing time on last year's Horn squad it doesn't say much about his skill level.

You can typically tell by the bios. At OU they typically don't have much of a bio for walkons (especially on the football team). To me the telling information is the lack of a recruiting ranking or any all-state/all-region/all-city recognition.

Newsome bio actually says he is a walkon. Even without that information, a good indication that he is a walkon is his academic status. He was a solid high school player and two time Academic All State player. That is a perfect walkon.
