How bad could our football team beat our basketball team if the football team was picked by billy tubbs and had two weeks to practice with him

I think the footbally team would win by around 15 points because they would just press us and keep bringing in athletes.

Please.

The basketball team would win easily.

This is no different than when people ask if the best college team could beat the worst NFL team.

In both cases it's no contest.

I'll give you a good example of what I'm talking about... several years ago, when OSU wide receiver Adarius Bowman ended up playing some for the OSU b-ball team...

The dude looked HUGE on the football field... he was bigger and more physical than almost everyone out there... then he gets on the basketball court and he looked like just some random shooting guard.

JamesOn Curry, whom I always though looked sort of small on the b-ball court, was clearly bigger than Bowman, and obviously about 100x more skilled.

Ya, generally football players arent big enough to play basketball at the D1 level.

Justin Gauge (Mizzou) also looked huge on the football field, and was just a regular guy on the basketball court. Bowman was also a good example.

I mean, we think of 6'3'' 240 linebackers as really big guys, and they are. But compared to 6'9'' 250 guys they are too small, and arent quick enough for 6'1'' 190 guys.

It amazes me that despite the absolutely horrific team we have, which should be easy to critique, people find a way to go overboard with criticism and make themselves look silly. Way to go.

1 - Jamell Fleming 5-11 198
2 - Joseph Ibiloye 6-3 205
3 - James Hanna 6-4 237
4 - Erik Mensik 6-6 288
5 - Donald Stephenson 6-7 299

Not too bad... At least we'd have an inside presence. :D

This would be interesting to actually see. With the type of athletes OU recruits for football, I don't doubt you have several who could see the floor in a role player capacity for D1 basketball teams. I'm sure quite a few were also highly successful high school players. Granted, that's a totally different world than Big 12 hoops, but I still think they'd be able to compete with a lower level D1 team.

Your basketball team is undoubtedly more skilled, but athletically it would be close, and it's not like OU has a dominating post presence, either.

This may be the dumbest post of the year. If not, it's in the top 3.

Jesus, OU BB would easily beat a bunch of FB players on the court.

The football team would go 1990 UNLV on this basketball team

OU Football - 77
OU Basketball - 75

Of course, each score in football is 7 points... :D

this year .. not so much .. a past sooner football team vs this years bball .. maybe ..

holmes bradford tennell greshman loadholt that is a good squad ..

and i promise you greshman and loadholt would not look small

Gresham would be nothing special on a Big 12 college basketball court.

He's listed at 6'5" and 260. What position would you expect him to play?

At 260, he'd get eaten alive by athletic small forwards... and he's a bit too short for the post.

Heck, everyone considers Marshall Moses to be a small post man, and he's basically the same size as Gresham, but 2 inches taller. (listed at 6'7 and 255).

I'll give you Loadholt. He's clearly huge, but he oviously he couldn't play at 350 pounds or whatever he weighs... he'd be good for about 2 minutes per game.

:)

You can add in DeMarco in there as well. He was a pretty good basketball player coming out of high school. I don't know if he would have the same explosiveness due to the knee injuries.

This is so stupid. In football you play hard for 5 seconds, rest for 35, rinse and repeat. And you dont have anybody that plays o and d. They would get gassed on the basketball court within 10 Minutes. And the ones that dont will foul out in 15. Then you have the lack of shooting ability that the football players have and they would get run out of the gym

Not to say the football team would win, but people can't be saying our players aren't Big 12 caliber in one thread and then over here saying that football players can't hang with our Big 12 players.

But I think some of you guys aren't doing football players justice with regards to athleticism and explosiveness. Football players are probably the most explosive athletes out there. Combine that with some size and decent skill, and they could hold their own at least defensively if given the time to prepare. Not to mention, since most of our guys are low D1 guys to many posters, the football team wouldn't be as overmatched as at another school (according to that logic).

I think the football team's best hope would be the "hit em the mouth" and hope they fold approach.

Demarco Murray was recruited to OU after Stoops saw him dunking a basketball while he was visiting Ryan Reynolds. He was a top-30 basketball recruit.

Just sayin'. :)

Until they got tired. Its a 40 minute game. Football players are not in that kind of shape. They don't run up and down the court, cut, post, cut again, run back down the court, keep up with their man cutting, posting, cutting again for forty minutes. They run for a second or 2, hit an opposing player, whistle blows, 35 second break for 3-15 times then have a 5 minute break. They would GAS

So one player. Who is gonna play the post? The Linemen? they cant keep up with our bball team. how will they stay out of foul trouble when all they do is hit people?
