How Did Coach Self Not Get Thrown Out?

Man. I've seen drill seargants give less impressive ass chewings than Coach Self gave that ref who called the technical on Mclemore. I felt like I was watching version of Scarface they show on cable with the cuss words cut out. He got a "T" after about ten minutes of calling the refs mama a prostitute in six different languages, then continued to cuss the ref like a dog. If it had been any other coach except maybe Coach K or Roy Williams there've been booted, IMO. Guess membership has its privileges.

His tactics worked though. The refs called a totally different game from there and Kansas woke up. That's why he gets paid the big bucks I guess.

Honestly, the officials made a stupid call on the technical and so they let coach Self have some latitude in chewing their butts.

KU did get a bunch of calls after that, I agree. That happens sometimes when techs are called on coaches.

The technical also fired up his players who played much better afterwards.

I don't think they necessarily made a stupid call on the T. McLemore turned right to the ISU bench and nodded in that "what's up?" kinda manner. We also have no idea if or what was said.

Officials need to find a happy medium between obvious showboating and honest emotion. We don't know what was said but it seemed pretty weak to me and I hate KU.

If he showed that honest emotion toward nobody in particular or toward his own bench, I don't think there would have been a T. The fact that it was toward ISU's bench was the problem. You can celebrate, but you can't taunt.

It was obvious taunting and I couldn't believe it took the refs so long to T-up Self. I also thnk his T changed the way the game was called.
