how do you give up........

You have to keep your composure when the opponent goes to a super aggressive defense and the officials don't call the fouls. We didn't do that.

the first layup was a three-step travel. Should have been called and was not. The penetration was the result of a poor switch in the backcourt, which put Neal on their PG - Wright. If Cam gets around the screen or does not put so much ball pressure on in the backcourt then we keep Wright out of the paint. He was something llike 2 of 13 shooting at that point. Is that on Clark, Neal or Lon - no idea as I don't know what they were doing defensively out of the timeout.

The last layup was bad defense. Got beat on the wing and no offside help.

All this said, defense did not cost OU the win - offense did. Neal missed three treys in the final four minutes and the front end of a one-and-one. I like Neal, but Clark should have been in the game. Better ball handler and I would have liked to see us take some of those opportunities to the basket, instead of settling for jump shots.

I have seen our collapse in the second half mentioned in every post but why is no one talking about the crappy firt half. We held them to 2 points for how many minutes?? But could only must up 6 of our own. We missed a lot of opertunities in the first half that could have put it out of reach. Made me sick to watch it happen but we can't put lipstick on this pig was just a bad game for us. Hopefully there is something we can take away from it.

I thought OU really needed to get some offensive boards during that stretch. The first 10 minutes of that game were odd. Nobody could make a shot.

I agree. Now, Clark did have a pretty poor showing, but if you look at this point in the game, Neal missed the three 3's and committed fouls on the ensuing possessions. They weren't horrible fouls, but it was clear that his slower foot speed kept him from being able to keep up with the quicker guards. I thought that LK would sub Clark for Neal after the second foul, but that didn't happen and Cinci was able to extend the game and get easy points at the free throw line which led to the W in my opinion.

Not blaming anyone, just stating what I was thinking during this sequence of events. Hopefully the team/staff uses this game as a learning opportunity and will be better prepared next time.

Because that's what people do. In a one point loss everyone remembers the missed layup or free throws at the game's end but no one brings up the ones in the first five minutes. It seems as the game goes along some feel that that's when possessions get more valuable and everyone counts so much. I groan as much at that first missed layup as any.
