Stories like this are the main reason some of us remain donors to the athletic department.
As a younger man, when I first became a donor after graduating from OU, my motivation was self-centered. I wanted the good seats, the entertainment, and the quality time of going to basketball games with my father. I was focused on the benefits that I received.
Now I get my greatest reward from “contributing” to the young people, like Isaiah, that benefit from their athletic scholarship to OU. I get to watch these young people mature and grow into a better future for themselves. There is so much more to college athletics than winning and losing. Just think how much Isaiah’s horizons have been expanding during his short time at OU, with trips to Europe and travels all over the country, and with mentors like Lew Hill and Lon Kruger.
Wisdom does come with age.
