I’m not looking forward to our game with Alabama

Since defending the three has been our Achilles’ heel this season and in seasons past, I’m not looking forward to our January 30th match up with Alabama.

The Tide beat LSU by 30 points on Monday on their own floor, and in the process set a new school record by making 23 shots (23 of 43) from behind the arc. One player, John Petty, Jr., made his first seven threes, finishing the game by making 8 of 10 shots from that distance.

I’m usually not one for waving a white flag. But this might not be a bad time to start. :D

I choose to look at this game as a great opportunity for a huge win, with little downside to our resume if we lose. Our NET ranking should improve either way, and a win over a quad one noncon opponent would be huge.

I bet the under (which is pretty hilarious lol) so I watched the entire game. They (obviously) were white-hot, but note they also entered the game 7th in the SEC at 34% for 3, so it was definitely an extreme outlier.

I didn’t watch the game, nor did I do much research before starting this thread. As you may have guessed by now, it was mostly tongue in cheek. The truth is, I never backed down from a game, a fight or a challenge in my life.

We definitely know how it feels to be on the floor with a team that can’t miss from three. But, now that your post has revealed the real Tide team, I agree with Wichita. This game could be an opportunity to make our way onto the national stage.

Thanks! I feel better now.

It was definitely something beyond unfathomable, and they never stopped shooting, so on the other side, if they are cold we have a great chance at a nice win. They are a VERY athletic team.

Well either way, they have dominated pretty much every conference game so far. The only game that was played closely was the game at Auburn. I could be over selling them, but I feel like they should be a top 10 team right now or at least right there on the edge. So it’s going to be a really tough game, but it works out good for us to have a chance at a statement win since we didn’t have much out of conference this year.

They really have been smoking teams -- their last three wins have been by 30, 31 and 20 points, against LSU, Arkansas and Kentucky, respectively, and two of those were on the road.

Alabama is a very good team. I look at it as another opportunity for a quality win. I like playing good teams. We won’t win them all, but we need to win some of them.

We need to compete. If we lose, that sucks, but we better play hard and compete

Amen. No reason to hide! You gotta play the best to be the best. After all, isn't that what every OU fan should want? Sometimes I wonder...

Nate Oats was such a good hire for Alabama.... he did a great job at Buffalo.

He would be a total disaster for OU though because he hasn't won as many games as Lon Kruger, so it would be a gigantic dumpster fire here to hire someone like that.

Well, he might be someone we want to interview – if we can't get Frank Haith.

No way. I’d prefer a low major coach who is around .500 in his career but has finished second or third in his league a time or two. Or maybe a JUCO coach who could help us find the small percentage of JUCO players who could contribute for a year or two.

Since you brought it up again...

Oats has had success. A lot. People would have supported Oats.

No NCAA baggage been fired from 9 previous jobs...

I can see it now.....

"You want to hire a guy who has only been to the NCAA Tournament a few times.... Only been out of the first round twice... and went 16-15 in his first year at Alabama... You really think THAT guy would do a good job here? Lon Kruger has [insert Lon Kruger resume here]!"

well, the "good" is it's in Norman...we have played pretty well at home.

If we can knock of ku...the play :fexas-logo: close in austin...who knows.

Our D has been 100% better lately than it was at Xavier.
