i really like carl blair.

He shot 180+ 3's in two season, at a rate of 43.5%. Blair has taken only 35 in over half a season, at a much lower rate.

I'm not knocking the guy, he's a year younger than Quannas ever was at OU and he's already a solid player, but if he ever becomes the shooter/defender Quannas was, he'll be an all-conference point guard.

Blair has been so good lately, I wonder if it might be better to recruit another athletic wing guy and let Newell continue to grow in the backup point roll.

I thought Washington played well in spots today, too. Never seen a guy set a screen with their elbows out like he does, but he gives great effort, had some big rebounds and a great block on Acy

I agree that Blair is a lot like Quannas especially in the way he uses his body to get himself into the lane. And both are very sneaky athletic. If he ever becomes the defender or shooter White did he'll be something else. That's a high bar, though, and I'm pretty happy with him even if he doesn't get to that level. Quannas shot over 40% from behind the arc at OU.

You beat me to it. He had a better game defensively than ofensively.

Carl made some really clutch plays today. Once he cuts out some of the bad TOs (ex that travel) then he will be even better.

I will guaranty that happens just by having a year of experience. I am not saying he will be perfect, just improved.

there is an old man at the OU games that me & my friend have gotten into it with about carl. he only sees his TOs & not the positive things he does. & everytime carl did something bad he would stand up & yell & said he wanted newell in there instead of blair. i was so angry. i wish i coulda been there today to make him eat his crow!

Just said that to MaxPower on the telephone. I agree with you, nick. I think Blair can be even more like Q if he gets some more confidence in his long range shot (which I think looks pretty good).
