...when Steven Pledger went to sleep tonight if he went to lay on the bed and missed completely, only to land on the floor of his bedroom?

Pledger was 0-4 from downtown but Buddy was 0-5. Pledger sure gets a lot of blame and Buddy never does. I guess that extra hustle goes a long way. Will be interesting to see if he keeps that up his whole career. A lot of times freshman play their butts off due to sheer excitment and once they get comfortable they just take it easy at times.

Yuup. But, he did do something else beside shoot. Mbaye and Pledge obviously did not give much effort. Evident by their sitting by coach.

Cause Buddy wasn't the main reason why we actually made it a game, he's brought it every game hes played in (cept the last one i guess) and you'd wish a couple of our older players who have only lost their whole time at OU would be mature enough at this point to not take any games for granted - That Texas loss was understandable to a certain extent, this game was not for a program that has so much to prove and still has everything to play for.

Buddy can score without hitting 3's and he's never been a great 3 point shooter all year. Also, Buddy plays great defense and makes things happen even when his shots aren't falling. Pledger, like yesterday, just disappears when his shots aren't falling and while his defense has improved a lot, it's not good enough to stay in the game when he's not contributing on offense.

I posted this more about the numerous airballs Pledger heaved up. As a team we deserve a lot of ribbing for that shooting effort.

Because Buddy had 10pts, 9reb, 2ast & 3stl. Pledger had 2pts, 1reb, 0ast, 0stl.

We would not be in the NCAA tourney with Steven Pledger. Shooters/Scorers have bad games. Get this mentality that we are going to win every game and no one is going to have a bad game.
Next year a few of you will realize Pledge means a lot to this team and makes things easier on bigs inside, other guards to have driving lanes. Mark it down NOW.

In that scenario I'm guessing Amatt couldn't even find his bedroom,Grooms fell asleeo in his chair, and Hornbeak passed out on the floor. :)

That is strange. Kruger said the other day that it was Osby's recent play that was making everyone else's job easier. Could it be that you have it just backwards?

Pledger's hot streak is one of the reasons this team started clicking offensively the last few weeks. He had a terrible game, along with the rest of the team in the first half. It was obvious the team knew they couldn't get the 3rd seed and they played like it for too long. No excuse given that he's a Sr. but Pledger obviously checked out.

Let's see how Pledger responds Thursday. I think he'll rebound and have a very good game.

Basketball IQ. Bigs make it easier for Guards and Guards make it easier for Bigs. It works together

Ever wonder why RO is so hard to guard when they pop him high and there isnt much help. Its called shooters in the corners, no one is "able" to help.

You hate Pledger, Everyone knows that, but if you cant see that he is probably the 2nd biggest reason (behind RO) we are where we are, then you my friend are blind, because of your hatred.

Think the coaching staff was a bit displeased w/the effort given? I don't think the motivation for him being benched was derived purely from the numbers found on a simple stat sheet as many seem to believe.

This.

I think it has to do with the fact that he is a limited player.
If he isn't hitting jump shots, we have other players that can fill his role better in the other aspects of the game, and also miss jump shots.

I don't think his benching necessarily speaks to much more than the fact that he was just having a very off shooting day, and the team was more likely to win with another player getting his minutes because of that.

I don't hate Pledger. As a matter of fact, if his fan club would simply say that he is a good catch and shoot guard and a really good 3 pt. shooter, no one would have heard a word from me about it.

But, that isn't the case. You guys want to conflate him into something else and use those two facts as evidence that he is something else. And he simply just isn't. I'm pretty sure that it isn't me that is blind to the facts here.

And no, Pledger isn't the 2nd biggest reason behind Osby that the team has improved so much. Cousins, Buddy, Hornbeak, and M'baye are the reason. Without the threat of Cousins, Kruger could have never gotten Grooms to the point of playing to the high level he is at now. Without the threat of lost minutes Kruger couldn't have gotten Pledger to show the least bit of interest in playing defense or wandering up close to the basketet in case a ball karoomed off in his direction. And even Osby has benefited some from having an upgrade with him down low.

You might need to give your guards help bigs and bigs help guards lecture to Kruger. He was the one I was quoting.

#1 Bold- Thats a lie. Every chance you get, you knock Pledger, If I started a poll 80% of regular posters would vote that you hate Pledge.

#2 Bold- Yes all those guys helped improve this team, that goes w/o saying. But Pledge has carried us scoring wise more than most. (minus RO) Hints the term 2nd biggest reason.

#3 Bold- Coussins will be fine in time. But Grooms has ALWAYS worked hard while at OU. Ive spoken directly to players, Coaches, and managers who see extra hours spent in the gym.

#4 Bold- I dont have give that speech to LK, I know RO has played GREAT, LK knows that, Big 12 coaches voted him 1st team know that. But If you asked him "has Pledger's ability to shoot the ball helped the bigs inside and other guards have open driving lanes?" He will tell you yes!
