I have gone from the denial stage to the acceptance stage. It is very liberating. For all of you pessimist out there, you can cheer up. 2014 is just around the corner.

Haven't you heard the world is coming to an end in 2012.:ez-laugh:

At least football looks poised to make a serious run at the BCS NC. Face it, man. Our beloved university is now a one trick pony in the sports world.

P.S. I hope no one channels his inner OSU fan and talks about how good we are at the non revenue sports. No one gives two ****s about any of that. When it comes to college sports, football and men's basketball are all that matter.

Loser mentality saying wait until 2014. What's the point of renewing my basketball tickets for next season if OU is going to be bad again?

Sarcasm? I hope...

No noe cares about the OU baseball team? I do and they are pretty good btw.

than there are a lot of one trick pony schools, heck there are some no trick pony schools acording to that criteria

Yeah, but that's not acceptable here at OU. We have the most decorated program in college football's modern era. Our basketball program has the most NCAA Tournament appearances and tourney wins for any program that hasn't won the NC. We're supposed to be good at both sports.

I dont even know where to begin with this non-sense.

Why do you go tell the baseball ,softball, wrestling, tennis, soccer, swimming, gymnastics, lacrosse, and all other non revenue sports athletes this.

And when you are done you can sit down with Sherri Coale, Pat Summit, and Geno and they can show you how much money their programs make

Why should I go tell the athletes in the sports anything? The fact that they enjoy playing those games and you enjoy watching them doesn't change the fact that non revenue sports are irrelevant. They don't bring money into a university, raise its stature, or bring national attention to it. Our gymnastics program has been wildly successful the last 10 years. When was the last time ESPN hosted "College Gymnastics Gameday" down here with hundreds of screaming fans in the background? Hasn't OSU's wrasslin' program won like 20 National Championships? When was the last time ESPN interviewed one of their stars on SportsCenter?

I'll buy that UCONN and Tennesee, the two greatest programs in the history of women's college sports, make money. I sincerely doubt our women's program generates a single dollar of revenue for the OU. If you have a link or article that proves me wrong, I'll gladly eat my worlds. Other than UCONN and Tennessee women's basketball, I can't see any other women's sports programs making money for their universities.

Bottom line is that if a university is to be known for its athletic prowess, it had better be good at football and/or men's basketball.

I assume you mean profit?

Ever heard of the college world series? College baseball may not make a bunch of money for the universities, but to say "nobody cares about it" is wrong.

So ESPN is the arbiter of success? I venture more people know who Nadia and Bart are than know who Demarco is.

Actually, the Tennessee women didn't turn a profit last year, which sort of proves the folly of insisting that the only way of determining if people care about a sport is by whether it operates in the black.

SOONER BowelMovementS thinks women are a one-trick pony - they can only have children. If the child is non-revenue producing then that woman is a failure just like the schools that don't win NC's in bball or fball.
