My wife and I decided to go to this Saturday's game against Baylor, in Waco. (Women's bball) My buddy, whom is an OU alumn, recently got a job working for Baylor's Sports Information department and got us free tickets. The catch??? According to his boss, if we take the tickets we are not allowed to wear OU attire. We can cheer for them, but cannot wear anything OU.

Has anyone ever heard of a policy like this at any other Big XII school?

Never. But leave it to Baylor to be creative. They are also the only school I've personally experienced which would not allow you to move down from the nosebleed section (where they ticketed our group) after the start of the game, even though the lower part of the venue, including behind the visitors' bench (where we wanted to sit) was sparsely populated.

Oh, and the only one who required a bus containing elderly and physically disabled visiting fans to park at the far edge of the parking lot and offered no assistance or even so much as a "good luck" for getting them to the venue.

Yes, impressive displays of their religious tenets.

I think the second example definitely warranted an email to the AD & University President.

Is this an actual rule? Or just a Baylor person having some fun with the OU fan who was looking for a handout?

I have heard fans give away tickets before and tell people "you have to cheer for our team"...... or, "don't wear the colors of the other team." Things of that nature.

It seems a bit odd to hear someone asking for a freebie to try to get up on their high horse like this. If it is such a big deal, then stop being so cheap and just buy a ticket. Then you can wear any team jersey you want!

I wondered the same thing. But apparently, the person who got the tickets thought his boss was serious or he wouldn't have passed the comment on to his friends.

Perhaps someone did. The next year they had golf carts available so those needing them could ride from the bus. That worked fine before the game, when people weren't arriving all at once. After the game, you had a better chance of being picked up by a golf cart if you were wearing green and gold than if you were wearing crimson and cream. The year after that they finally started allowing the bus to discharge (and pick up) passengers up next to the building and park during the game at the edge of the parking lot. Glad our bus driver is hale and hearty!

I will agree that the parking at the Ferrell Center is not ideal due to the fact our fan base has exploded recently. The school does have plans to make improvements and add extra parking. There are also 2 parking garages on campus that is free parking for the games and offers a free shuttle to arena. As far as not wearing OU colors sitting in BU section is not an official rule but more of a preference. Personally, I wouldn't want to sit with the enemy. I've been to several games at LNC, Reed, USA, and Frank Irwin where the tickets are in nosebleed section behind goal in the corner. I have been part of BU Nation for 14 years now and for what I pay for season tickets I deserve to sit on the floor!!!

Does OU allow GA ticket holders to move down? We have season tickets but they are GA because my mother cannot go down any steps. But I would move down if they would let me.

The folks in the yellow vests used to try to stop people at the men's games, but they don't any more. I've gone down to sit with friends in the lower level at women's games - after the first media timeout but I don't know if they encourage it.

The policy in place for the last several years is GA ticketholders can move to the reserved seats in the lower bowl after the first television timeout (16:00 minute mark) of the first half. However if the ticket holder for the seat you occupy shows up you will have to move to another vacant seat. This practice applies to both the men's and women's games.

At KU, we received football tickets from a football staffer and they asked us not to wear OU stuff but we were sitting amongst the other KU staffers' families.

We didn't and wouldn't have anyway out of respect of our friends (we dressed in neutral colors) but it may depend on where the tickets are located.

I think that is what most people would do.
