Introducing Akolda Manyang

Thanks, I enjoyed that. AM seems like a terrific young man.

He's definitely put on some weight. After seeing that video, I think he has a pretty good chance to hold his own in conference play.

Really long arms. I think he will play.

Interesting weight training. Wonder how much the training can add to vertical jump.

He grew 7 inches in one summer? Wow. Talk about growing out of your wardrobe. Another surprising factoid is he is 7 feet tall and only wears a size 14 shoe. Tiny feet. Shaq is 7'2" and wears a 22.

I also like that his favorite non-basketball activity is he loves to fish, whereas his least favorite food is fish. I guess he loves to catch and release.

That is a good catch. I read that and didn't pay attention to that oddity.

So excited to have him, he helps in so many ways, even on offense. Didn't know he grew up in the US.

Well, heck.

Better now than later, I guess.

Darn. We've had a couple of stress fractures 2 summers ago and it just kept them from practicing for a few weeks:

It started with Buddy Hield re-injuring a foot he had broken in the 2012-2013 season. The injury last summer caused sit out of the exhibition games the Sooners played in Europe. Fortunately Hield was able to heal up and be ready for the season, showing no lasting effects from the foot injury.

Je’Lon Hornbeak suffered a stress fracture in his foot in August, causing him to miss a significant amount of the offseason. Although it didn’t cost him any games, Hornbeak seemed to have some rust to work off early in the season.

Thankfully, AM will be a few weeks further along in his recovery than Hornbeak was when the season starts.

Never a good time for an injury, but at least there is time for it to heal properly. Hope Akolda is back to 100% when the season is taking off.
