They lost to Memphis in the CUSA finals and are 17-13. Is that good enough to save his job another year? I'm guessing the answer is yes.

Would love to see him get the boot, D'Andre Wright get a release and OU scoop him up.

Found this about Wright and OU.....

Wright said Oklahoma showed interest in him and wanted him to go to prep school for one year before signing with the Sooners in 2013-14.

With a new AD, he may indeed be on the chopping block. Attendance at their games is way down

I've mentioned before that I think supports of TU aren't satisfied with Wojcik given his inability to make the NCAA tourney. The way the season was going early, I thought for sure he would be pushed out but they made a run and salvaged the season so that it would at least be respectable.

Who knows, maybe he will find a way to win the CUSA tourney and make the dance, but I doubt that will happen. My gut tells me that as long as he doesn't blow their first game in the CUSA tournament then he will be safe this year, especially since they seem to have picked up a couple of steals in recruiting with Woodard and Wright. If he got fired, I wouldn't be totally surprised though. Stranger things have happened.

He was mentioned by some MU fans as a potential target following Anderson's departure last year. I never got it. Seems like the definition of mediocre to me.

He should be as he's had fringe NBA talent with Uzoh, Hurtt, and Jordan and still couldn't sniff the NCAA's. He's the perfect example of being not bad but not good. If you're ok with mediocrity Tulsa, then keep him around. TU will never be dancing as Wojcik as a coach.

I believe his job is safe. Look at it this way. If Capel had improved to 17-13 after going 13-18 the previous season, chances are good he would still be coaching at OU. TU fans are more accepting of mediocrity than Sooner fans, despite their football-first mentality.

I think he gets another year, but I think the incoming recruiting class is the biggest reason why. Had he not landed Woodard and Wright (amongst others), this might have been the year they cut ties with Doug.

I don't think very much of Doug as a HC. I'm sure he is a great guy, seems like a decent recruiter, and he might be a good assistant coach, but as a HC, he doesn't impress me. And I like to see TU do well, so I hope they send him on his way, and actually make a good hire this time around.

TO CLARIFY, that was the regular season finale... and it was at Tulsa and senior night, so a heartbreaking loss, but not a loss to end the season quite yet.

The C-USA tourney schedule release is here.

Tulsa is the tourney's 3-seed and will get a first round bye in the March 7-10 tourney, which is hosted by... Memphis, which is the regular season champ and will thus be the tourney's 1-seed.

I think Tulsa has a good chance of having the honor of losing to Mem-pis at their home turf in the championship game. Now... would THAT be enough to safe Wojick after years of no postseason? Probably. C-USA is falling apart anyways.

Saw it on CBS and assumed the only reason they'd put a Tulsa home game on there was if it was in the conference tournament championship. Oops. :ez-laugh:

Meh, CBS is about to broadcast teams you've never heard of before, so they have to give some love to mid-majors leading up to their big money tourney showcase so that you actually grow attached to some of them before they're unceremoniously ousted by a overtalented overhyped overseeded overrated BCS conference team :P

CBS broadcasts some random games at the end of the year. I'd love to see them broadcast more MWC games. The Mountain West is the most underrated conference in college basketball; half of the conference is going to make the tournament but no one knows about any of the teams because all of their games are on no-name networks.

I have now heard rumblings that Wojick might finally be shown the door if they don't have a really good C-USA tourney showing. I am not sure if that means they have to win the whole thing (against a 1-seed Memphis? IN Memphis?!) but not sure.

The fact that they couldn't really put much of a C-USA tourney run together a few years ago when Tulsa got to host it (and as an end result, attendance locally sucked and Tulsa will likely never get to host the thing in the near future again) probably rubbed many the wrong way. The fact that they couldn't do better than CBI-ing is probably also a factor.

Tulsa loses in the quarterfinals to Marshall in 3OT. They finish the season at 17-14.

BTW, Robert Goff had 0 points and 5 rebounds in 16 minutes of action in that game. For the year he is average 6.4 points and 4.6 boards a game.

So they lose their first game in the conf tourney. Things are about to get interesting. It wouldn't surprise me if he is let go.

Sounds like he is a little better than Arent, if that.

I never bought into him being all that and a bag of chips like some on here.

None of this discussion matters to me until thebigabd joins in.

DeAndre Wright...... come on down to OU.... Let this Happen.... LET.THIS.HAPPEN
