It was bad enough

I'll say this. So far Izzo, steve kerr, steven a smith, gary parrish, doug gottleib have all praised smart for coming back.

Jim Traber, Skip Bayless, and craps tons of other message board geniuses have said it was a stupid move.

Those names speak for themselves.

Izzo and Kerr I'm with. But using Gottlieb as a source? Come on Man!

I listened to DougGottleib talk about it. He said financially it isa dumb move but for playing nothing beats college and being the man. I think most people who question Smarts move are focused on the money issue and not his wanting to play college. I have also heard Doug ealier in the season say Smart was not ready but potential alone he will get drafted. Disscussing potential is very subjective and people obviously may have different opions. But I believe most people and even Smart said he could improve before he goes pro.

You really just used Doug as a source? Lol

Praising a guy for staying in school instead of going pro isn't the same thing as saying it's a smart move.

lol "smart move"

It's too early to tell if it's a good or bad move. It will largely depend on how his college season turns out next season. If he has a Blake Griffin sophomore year, he'll win the Naismath, lead his team deep into the tourney and become the consensus No. 1 pick.

If he has a Josh McRoberts sophomore year, he will end up in the second round and be relegated to the D-League... and hopefully, will also be caught by cameras bawling into a team towel on the bench... actually, that's mean. I'll just hope for an unproductive year resulting in numerous Gooner wins over OKLAST :D

It's only a dumb move if his #1 goal is to make as much money as possible.

Smart doesn't seem to be driven by every last dollar. Nothing wrong with that. He can't get the college experience back. He won't be able to play with his best friend again. I said this last week, but Smart is "figuring" that whatever money he potentially loses, is worth the trade off. Again, I don't see how anybody can bash him for that.

I'm certainly not bashing him, he seems like a really good kid. More power to him.

I seriously doubt he becomes the number one pick even if he has a great year. According to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_first_overall_NBA_draft_picks
the number one pick is typically a C or PF. Going back to 1980 only Iverson, Rose, Wall and Irving were selected number one as a guard. It could happen but history would suggest it is not likely.

Ok ok Doug G was not the best name to throw in that list. I guess my main point was Traber and Bayless ****ting themselves.

I don't really blame anyone for dogging Smart. Its a ton a money.

It will be interesting to see his shooting percentages next year.
