But there is A LOT of chatter about Boston and the Clippers trying to get something done this offseason, trade-wise.

The latest rumor I read was KG/PP/Doc Rivers for Griffin/Bledsoe/Jordan/Butler.

Before somebody chimes and says it is ridiculous, I've read it at 2-3 at least somewhat respected sites. I know it's unlikely. I doubt anything gets done. But you better believe there are talks going one about "something."

Rumor is the Clips are trying to do it b/c it would take such a deal to get any of those three from Boston (they are probably all or nothing at this point), and it would allow them to keep Chris Paul. Personally, I think they'd be overpaying. I love KG and PP, but those guys are on their last leg. They looked like shells of their former selves over the last month or so. I'm not even sure it would make the Clippers better for even one year, though Doc is a much better coach than Vinny. Can't imagine clearing salary to get 2 years of those guys is worth keeping Paul, but stranger things have happened.

Would give Boston plenty of options, and some probable trade chips as well.

lol, what are these well respected websites?

B/C I know it's the clippers but even they are not that dumb. Lol I can't even....

Too late. I said it to myself yesterday.

They're not trading Blake Griffin for a couple of years of post-prime Pierce and Garnett. Despite the rumored turmoil between Paul and Griffin/Jordan and the personality fit between CP3 and the Boston guys, I find it hard to believe he sees this trade as a better situation, though players are often short-sighted.

Sterling wouldn't sign off on that. CP3 is the Clippers' best player, but Blake is much younger and will sell more tickets over the long haul.

I post on a board with some guys that are pretty close to the Celtics (front office and some players). They are saying the talks are real, not matter how unlikely. Both can be true. It can be an unlikely trade for A LOT of reasons, but there can still be some serious behind the scenes stuff.

Garnett would have been traded this past season before the deadline, but he wouldn't wave his no trade clause. I suspect the two teams are trying to figure out if there is any common ground where something could get done, and the players would all agree (or at least, those players that have a say).

I don't doubt that the two teams are talking, or that Ainge is pushing for Blake Griffin, but I don't think the Clippers would ever seriously consider any Boston deal that includes Blake Griffin.

And without Griffin, the salaries wouldn't match a Pierce/Garnett package unless Jamal Crawford is included.

Also, as fun as it would be to watch Bledsoe and Bradley applying full-court pressure, how well does a Rondo/Bradley/Bledsoe backcourt fit together overall? In addition, Bledsoe is a year away from free agency, in which he'll presumably get a significant salary boost. How much is Boston willing to invest in a backup PG?

I have to think if Boston acquired Bledsoe, either he or Rondo would be traded.

I suspected as much. Rebuild by collecting young assets, regardless of how they fit, and flip them when a good opportunity comes along.

I've never had a completely solid idea of how much Ainge values Rondo. Obviously, Ainge says all the right things in public, but Rondo's name has been thrown around a lot in trade rumors over the years.

Aside from LAC, there aren't any other teams that make sense as destinations for a Garnett/Pierce package. I don't see any other contenders or fringe contenders with the assets and contracts to send back to Boston. Given the circumstances, they would seem fortunate just to get Bledsoe, Jordan, and picks.

if some crap like this does happen then it's just more of the same old clips BS.

they need a new coach. ANY of the well-traveled coaches who can coach a lick of offense would be preferable at this point.

C'mon ... CP3, Blake, DJ, and Barnes make an AWESOME foursome. Throw in a shooter and plug in some scrubs and get after it.

I was pretty disappointed the KG for Bledsoe/Jordan (rumored to have been on the table) deal didn't happen. Sounds like KG not waiving his NT clause was probably the only reason it didn't. Love KG, but he isn't good enough to win a title with the way the Boston roster is currently structured. He and PP really hit a wall this year.

Haha, was just about to say the same thing. That proposed scenario isn't plausible, but if it did ever happen, that tandem would be a two-headed monster on the defensive end--they are arguably the two best defensive PG's in the league.

My favorite Avery Bradley anecdote:

Payton didn’t know it, but in that same decade, not far away, another guard was building a stout defensive reputation at a community center in Lakewood, Wash.

The guard was told to ease up so that others could dribble.

But he didn’t. He guarded his adversaries so fiercely that some cried.

He was 5 years old.

His name was Avery Bradley.

I hope I never see something like that in person, because I don't want to laugh hysterically at crying 5-year-olds in front of their parents.
