Jelon out

Personally I don't know or care if Neal is the best athlete on the team. What impresses me is how hard he plays and that he is willing to do whatever he can to help this team win. After basically being relegated to the end of the bench last year,Tyler could have rode out his senior on the bench and concentrated on being a good student and just be a practice player in hoops. Instead he came in worked hard and is a vtal cog in this year's team. He will likely be needed to provide depth as an undersized post against superior size OF THE bIG 12.

Kruger said he Neal might not like the idea of defending a quicker pg but he could do it if necessary.

If necessary meaning we don't have another option? Maybe.

I've watched Tyler Neal play basketball at OU for 4 years now. I've seen him play poor man to man defense on guys that are 3's and 4's. If you think Tyler Neal can keep a pg in front of him, all game long, you are sadly mistaken.

Kruger isn't going to say anything negative about Neal to the public. What coach would do that? How about we actually wait and see if this actually happens, and what the results are, before claiming Tyler can do something, that in theory, doesn't even make sense.

If Tyler were such a capable pg, he'd have played there the last two seasons when we struggled MIGHTILY with point guard play. Instead, he didn't play a minute, and eventually got moved inside. Where we also, this season, still have depth issues.

And for the record, I'm not bashing Neal. I've been VERY pleased with his play this year. But he isn't going to go from not being able to effectively guard 3's and 4's, to being able to guard pg's. That just isn't going to happen.

Did you read the article? Kruger said he Neal might not like the idea of defending a quicker pg but he could do it if necessary.

His exact words were "he could get us by."

That doesn't exactly sound like he would excel, or that it's a good idea.

This will play itself out though. We'll all be able to watch the games to see how Tyler is used, and how he performs.

Yep.

It's kinda like stoops saying bell can run the same plays at knight when someone asks if the playbook will e different with bell.

Or stoops saying our tight ends are capable receivers, etc

At the end of te day it's all coach soran
