Jelon out

Thousands of HS and college teams where the same shoes... If it was a shoe problem, there would be an uproar.

I said that as a joke. Gotta admit there is something weird going on with the rash of foot injuries, though. Je'lon is the fourth player (Bennett, Hield and Cousins are the other three) who have gone down with a foot injury. Actually, this is Hornbeak's second. If it's nothing but bad luck, we're due for some good luck for a change.

Bad luck is what it is but if this were the football board we could blame YoYo or Alex Brown. In fact, we probably should just blame Coach Schmidt for this on principal. I mean all Coach Schmidt has done is help OU make 9 BCS bowls in 15 seasons, clearly he is incompetent.

i would expect cousins/buddy PG duties to go up a bunch in our final 4 non con games and woodard's to go down .. just to get them ready in case of foul problems ..

then once conf play starts .. you play woodard as many min as he can take even if it is 40 or very close to it ... i would be in conf play jordan average 35+ a game until JH gets back

I wouldn't do that. I would play Woodard 30 minutes a game and Cousins 10 minutes a game.

This injury sucks but it is an opportunity for Cousins to improve his ball handling and passing skills. OU just needs to turn the lemons into lemonade.

Agree. All injuries to starters stink. But look at this as an opportunity for Cousins and maybe a - pardon the pun - reboot of the season for Jelon, who has looked like the least improved of the three freshman guards. Maybe a little rest and more acceptance of his role will give him a chance to start fresh in four to six weeks!

Buddy won't play the point. It will be a big dose of Jordan with a smattering of Cousins.

Heard James Franschilla say Tyler Neal is geeting work at point in practice. This was a KREF phone interview,at first blush I would say James was trying to be funny BUT he sounded serious when he said it.

There is no way he was serious.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Buddy bring the ball up some, if Cousins can't handle the pressure. Not to mention, Buddy is just probably a better guy to have initiating our half-court offense.

Woodard is just going to have to learn to stay our of foul trouble, and how to pace himself. Guessing he plays a lot of minutes in the closer games over the next month or so.

Why can't OU fans accept that Tyler Neal is a very good athlete? His teammates believe it. Kruger apparently believes he can play any position on the floor to some degree.

So you want him playing the point? LOL

I'm sorry, I still don't get how he is the best athlete on the court.

Easy answer....Because lots of OU fans (fans in general, actually) think they know more than any of the coaches or players.

I want the guys doing what Coach Kruger wants them to do. I think OU has the best chance to win doing what the coaching staff thinks is best. I think Lon Kruger and his staff are highly compensated because they have knowledge and skill. I love basketball. I have been a fan for many years but I recognize that I do not have the knowledge to coach OU's basketball team.

With respect to being the best athlete I have no reason to believe the players are lying. I have no reason to believe Billy Tubbs is lying when he says this during broadcasts. I find it entirely possible that any kid on the team could be the best all around athlete.

Best athlete can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people.

Does Tyler, or did Tyler, play any other sports? Maybe the team voted for him b/c he is a solid baseball player, can golf in the 80's, and played football in HS.

That is a far cry from the guy that is the fastest/strongest/quickest, which is how a lot of folks would answer that question.

As for him playing PG, as most of us would think that means, I'll believe it when I see it. It probably just means that he would be the one to get the ball at the top of the key to kick start the offense. He is a solid passer, and is pretty heady. I doubt it means we'll be inbounding the ball to Mr. Neal, letting him dribble up against the other team's pg, and starting the offense like Woodard does. Again, what the fans think of as a PG, and what LK is likely thinking of in this case, are likely two completely different things.

That's fine. Not sure what that has to do with someone saying if Neal has to play the point, we are in trouble.

Did you read the article? Kruger said he Neal might not like the idea of defending a quicker pg but he could do it if necessary. The kid is a very good athlete. Why do you have some need to argue this point. You are not arguing with me, you are arguing with Kruger, his teammates and if you read the Tulsa article, Coach Capel. These are people that see him practice and are themselves exceptional athletes.
