so, was this old news? or does no one care that capel is bringing in possibly the #1 recruit in '13?

or is it incorrect?

Re: julius randle unofficial

If capel somehow got a visit from randle it is news to me. Would be amazing, kid is a star.

Re: julius randle unofficial

Julius has had unofficials to North Carolina and Kansas. Not heading to Norman that I know of, though it is a program he's thought about/thinking about. Jeff's a pretty big influence on him, but I would put our chances at slim at best. If Capel got a visit out of him, it would definitely be a big deal. Though I'm betting a visit WILL happen at some point between now and Nov of 2012.

On another note, Kyan Anderson of North Crowley is supposed to be heading up there this weekend. He's undersized, but has some game. Not on the level of any of the PG's currently on our roster, however. So, probably not a noteworthy visit, but it's the only one I know about from the DFW.

Re: julius randle unofficial

Daze, I have heard contradictory to that on Randle. I have heard he plans to visit September 11th and attend the Florida State football game.

That is the first I have heard about Anderson, I have seen him play a few times over the last couple years and while a good point guard it seem surprising given the depth at point on the current roster. Do you know if he is taking an official or an unofficial here?

Sys, I hope you do not mind but I edited your title to reflect that he is visiting here.

I hope you're right! It's just he didn't tell me that, and he knows I'm an OU guy. A basketball recruit taking in a big-time football game during good September weather in Norman is a really good thing.

Just to reiterate, I DO think he'll visit campus at some point before the early signing period in his senior year, and it''ll be a BIG deal when he does. Would be great if it were in a few weeks.

As for Kyan, I don't have any particulars. Not as close to that situation. Would make more sense that it's an unofficial though. He's taken an unofficial to Baylor and I don't think they've offered either. May be checking things out at a few of the closer Big12 schools just for the sake of going. Not sure.

In my opinion, Kyan would NOT be able to compete with Newell or Blair for PG minutes any time soon.

Re: julius randle unofficial

thanks for the confirmation, gparker. great news.

Pulling out all the stops. Blake is EXACTLY who Julius needs to bump into on his visit. Great news!

For those that don't know about Randle here is a video of him last fall when he was only 14.

Randle and Zac Peters on the same high school team is sick. And neither are a senior. Jeez.

Any tickets left for the FSU game? Also, if Randle is coming expect there to be alot of other guys in for that game as well.

More news about this weekend. Looks like Jelon Hornbeak will be in Norman, in addition to Kyan. Jelon is special! A 2012 shooting guard that played up most of the year with Team Texas 17's. He was a bright spot on a team that underperformed for the most part. He's bouncy, skilled, and never intimidated. Could be the best prospect in the class in Texas not named Isiah Austin, when all shakes out. We'll see how hard he works between now and then. Just keep an eye out for him.

I have heard to go along with Anderson and Hornbeak, Prince Ibeh (2012 PF/C) from the Dallas Fort Worth area and Gavin Thurman (2012 PF) from Wichita will also be in town.

Kyan Anderson must be very special, because it seems as if OU hasn't been active at recruiting 2011 players.
