I've been saying all along, let Bruce Weber really get his hands on a team and he will drive them into the ground.

I'm sure this game was a semi-fluke like many early games that D1 teams get beaten, but I was not worried about them in the big 12 after MacGruder left and he ran off Rodriguez. The guy is just plain awful

He just seems to be following Bill Self state to state. He took an incredibly talented Illinois team Self left behind, lost only once in the regular season, then got beat in the NCAA finals to UNC and never looked back again. Woof

OUCH! Is N. Colorado that good, or is KSU just plain bad this year?

I watched the game from beginning to end and honestly it was one of those games that KSU did most things right but the two they did wrong cost them dearly. One of those is coaching and the other is just something that happens especially to a team that lost their main shooter. Getting out rebounded to a team like Northern Colorado should never happen if you are a major D I school. Not having Gipson (KSU's best returning rebounder) due to a concussion hurt that some but they gave up 4 offensive rebounds with under 2 mins remaining to go in the game to help seal the loss.

On the other hand they shot 34% for the game and 2 - 19 or so from 3. That trend continued at the free throw line as they were 16 of 33.......None of that is really Weber's fault. They didn't take a lot of bad shots they just didn't make much.

Defensively they were ok. They have a lot of younger pieces as well. They were also missing two key pieces they will depend a lot on. Gipson I mentioned and the other is the replacement at the point. He's a freshman but is supposed to be talented. He will be eligible at semester.

I'm not saying Weber is a great coach by no means and the rebounding is a HUGE concern for KSU as they have limited size in the post with about 2 players around 6'8 with size and then they drop to 6'7 or 6'6 about 200 lbs......One recruit they tried to bring in at 6'10 failed to qualify (we know how that goes). They also have a transfer from G Town around 6'9 or so that will be eligible next year.

It will most likely be a lot tougher go for them this year but they will improve as this year goes on but that improvement may just be 3-4 games over .500 if they don't figure out how to make shots and ft's.......

I also forgot to mention they only had 9 or 10 turnovers so again it's more about making shots for this team (which could be hard to come by) more than not beating themselves.....

Those shooting numbers are pretty bad. You can't shoot like and not grab boards. That will lose you games even against teams like Northern Colorado.

Wasn't that long ago that we were squeaking out a close win over N Colorado @ home. Glad those days seem to be in the rear view.

Yep ... December 19, 2009 ... OU beat Northern Colorado 80-79 at the LNC. However, that win was "vacated" due to NCAA sanctions.

That was 4 years ago.

I SO don't miss that team. They were an embarrassment to OU. Three McDonald's All-Americans, and they still had such poor chemistry that they won a grand total of 13 games. That was coming off a 30-win season. :facepalm

I try to scratch that team out of my memory. It was like the Twilight Zone, or a nightmare.

Bruce Weber is a very good floor coach. The problem is that he can't recruit. Frankly the dude is not likeable. Who would want to play for him?

that No Colorado team we squeeked past was coached by current Colorado coach Tad Boyle. a Pac championship and two NCAA tournaments, NIT final four in 3 years. pretty good for hoops in Boulder. i remember that UNC team/game. they were shooting it from everywhere.

Yeah, I actually took the unordinary measure of emailing coach Boyle after that game and complimenting him on how prepared & hard his team played. I remember he emailed me back saying thanks & that OU was very talented and that we would be very good once the team comes together, unfortunately they never did.

in light of their recent roster events :facepalm:ez-roll:

And to think, some people wanted him here after Capel

Sure glad I wasn't one of them. Brucie has made a mess of things in Manhattan the last year or so. The biggest surprise to me is that he is still employed.

I was like - how are they already losing! I know Weber is a trainwreck but how did he manage to already lose in September!

Their fans were starting to get pretty cocky so I actually don't feel real bad for them.

The biggest surprise to me is that we are 1-5 against him.

What an anomaly! Dude can can coach but he just can't run a program or recruit. Kind of the anti-Ford...
