Kansas State was 19-14 last year, 7-11 in conference play. Their good non-conference record was due to a very weak schedule. They graduated Ashia Woods and Haley Texada, their #2 and #3 scorers and #2 rebounder. They return Breanna Lewis who led them in scoring and rebounding (11.5/6.4). Starting guards Shaelyn Martin and Kindred Wesemann return. Junior forwards, Erica Young and Jessica Sheble return, and they got some playing time. Junior guard Deborah Meeks has apparently left the team. She had been a JC transfer.

And, one from Louisville.
Jeff Mitte brought in some height in the signing class to go with Lewis who is only a junior. Deines (transfer from Louisville), Bri Craig, and Antoinette Taylor are the only seniors. Deines and Paige will be eligible this Fall.
I was surprised that Kansas State was 7-11 last year, and I think a lot of it was due to Texada. But, K-State does have a turnover problem, 115 more than their opponents. Thus, their turnovers are not helping them to score. They just don't handle the ball well, and they didn't bring in a guard, unless they use Deines as the floor leader. I liked what I saw of Lewis. But, I don't see Kansas State improving with Jeff Mitte as coach, and I anticipate fewer than seven wins in conference this year.
Once again, K-State plays a very weak non-conference schedule with one exception. They go to Storrs, Connecticut on November 23, a Monday. What a way to ruin a Thanksgiving weekend.
