It has been a foregone conclusion for a while, but ex-OU player and grad assistant Kellen Sampson will take his aggressive recruiting style to Appalachian State in North Carolina under Jason Capel. The significance of this means that a lot of the instate players will now be recruited by Sampson. Sampson has been very proactive with in-state kids targeting most of OUHoops.com's Top 20 2011 class at Stephen F. Austin. He has also made inroads on recruits like James Woodard, Que Paras, Matt Christiansen, and Cal Andrews in the 2012 Oklahoma class.

Ultimately, the move will put Kellen closer to his family in North Carolina.

i'd like to be closer to lauren as well.

congrats to him. i expect kellen to have a really promising career in coaching.

Yep, he knows what he's doing, plus has big time contacts. That's a recipe for success. Kellen Sampson will eventually be the head coach of a D1 program, and I hope he picks the right situation where he can succeed.

unfortunately he'll be coaching at Appalachian State...
