Is in the portal to transfer and is eligible immediately. He is the type of big man OU should be looking to get.

6'10, 250 pounds
Averaged 15 ppg and 7.5 rbg this season in a loaded ACC.

I don't think Lon will go after a big man that would start though, b/c I get the feeling he wants Manek and Doo to start at the 4/5 spots this year. Personally, I think you take Blackshear if he wants to come, start Doo at the 4, and convince Manek to come off the bench for a year and get starter minutes subbing for both Doo and Blackshear. Blackshear could contend for 1st team All Big 12 next year.

If you can get a guy like this, you do it. If he is good enough to start over Doo or Brady, so be it.

You can say Lon wont go after him and likely true... But here is why...

UK, Florida, or NBA.

Lon doesn't recruit a lot of kids because he knows he cant sign them. Waste of time and money.

Playing up the Lon won't sign him because of Doo/Manek is a lazy narrative.

Absolutely 1st team all Big 12. Any conf for that matter

My support that Lon isn't looking to find a starter quality transfer is that any name we've been attached to is not a starter quality kid. Or it's a kid that has to sit out. He wants Doo and Manek starting inside next year. He isn't going to disrupt that. Good or bad, that is how Lon Kruger operates. You can call it a lazy narrative all you want, but it's the narrative I believe to be true.

So youre on record saying he doesnt want the best prospects he can find to win games because he wants doo/manek starting?

He brought in Thomas to start for us... Or is he just partial to Doo/Manek. Or did he change in the last 2/3 years?

Lazy narrative for sure.

Who did Thomas start over?

There is your answer.

We had no 4/5's that year?

Come on. Why are they trying to bring in grad transfer guard? to sit behind guys? We have plenty of those...

Lon wants him, as does everybody else. That's why we won't get him.

Essentially, no. We had Spangler, D.J. Bennett, and a true freshman Lattin. We needed a starting 5.

We have plenty of guards? Who? We have 4, and MAYBE a couple of guys that can play the 3 out of position. But yes, the players Kruger is going after are the kind of players that are going to be content being the 4th or 5th guard on the team. He is't going after guys that are actually going to push anybody to start.

At least, not that I've seen/heard.

Gilder could start very easily next year.

Do you honestly think you have a solid handle on all the potential transfers Coach Kruger is communicating with? I know darned well I don't and I'm comfortable guessing that you don't either. By all means, correct me if I'm wrong.

Love to have him but, as everyone else has said, so would everyone else. The "Lon doesn't want him bc we already have Manek and Doolittle" talk is so absurd it doesn't even merit discussion. Blackshear would start here from day 1, probably alongside Manek & Doolittle. But he's going to end up at a big-time school. There just aren't that many grad transfer bigs out there.

We should probably focus on guys we actually have a shot at getting. Not pipe dreams.

He would take Blackshear in a heartbeat! It would be very unlikely for a guy that can go to any program in the country to decide to come to OU.

Glad Vbdad comes to the defense of a few realistic posters. You guys may think myself, ghost, wichita and couple others are idiots but maybe VBdad can help our case for not being insane.
