It just means if he gets cut, he still gets the portion of money that was guaranteed. Most NBA contracts are fully guaranteed, this is structured similar to an NFL contracts

Unfortunately this doesn't mean anything. He can be cut without penalty basically, which makes it very likely that he will in fact be cut.

They'll more likely send him to the D-League rather than cutting him. I would guess he'll spend some time with the team and some time on their D-league roster. I don't think they'll cut him unless they need a roster spot for something.
