I thought it would be best to give this Kris Martin article a separate thread, because it clears the air on some of the questions posters have been asking about the NCAA waiver. While the confusion surrounding the tweets are still out there, this article does a good job of explaining the process in filing a waiver request. You will also see that a precedent for approval was set when Rutgers fired Mike Rice in 2013. So, one would think there is a better than decent chance Martin will be appoved to transfer with two years to play beginning next season.

Nice find, and thanks for posting! It's always impossible to predict what the NCAA will do, and how long it will take for them to arrive at their decision. I remember they didn't give Thomas his waiver and announce he was eligible until about 18 hours before the season opener. You'd hope that given the situation at CSU, the NCAA would realize they need to move quickly because other players may be thinking of transferring, but I still worry that nothing will be resolved as fast as OU would like. Given our roster situation, we really can't afford to sit around and wait to find out if he can play next season.

I could be wrong but even if he sits, I think he’s a good add. If we can get 2 more grad or a Juco. Evens out the big class of juniors we have this year.

Good point. That would help to ease the traffic jam at the two next season.
My only regret is that we we could use his mid-range and perimeter shooting. I agree, though, he’s too good to pass even if he has to sit.

Hoping OU will get a waiver and we won’t have to make that decision!

I think I agree but I also think its reasonable for the coaches to wait this out a little and see who else decides to transfer.

They want him for sure but they really want him to be eligible. It will be interesting to see what they decide.

I've heard they are also looking at somebody from Pacific. A combo guard mostly off the ball.

Miles Reynolds. A PG who previously transferred from St. Louis. I'm guessing it's either him or Calixte at the 1 and, were I a betting man, Martin as the shooter. I'd hope that Trice then fills the spot of the big the team is looking for. I would think that would be a pretty good haul.

Fixed it. Thanks for the heads up, G of GH! Nothing I hate worse than misspelling someone’s name.

Poor Jamuni McNeace has had his last name spelled “McNease” his entire career so far.

Calixte would be my choice. He averaged 12 ppg last season while shooting 39% from three and 90% from the free throw line rounded off. Great handles, slick passer, and despite his size he can finish at the rim.

Here’s a highlight video for anyone who hasn’t seen him play:

Good take. Calixte looks real good in those highlights, left hand or right, good step back move.

I'd get them both. We need to over recruit anyone and everyone.

No worries. I actually figured it was a stupid autocorrect error. Those are the worst.

I agree but Reynolds played against better competition.

Yesterday Calixte tweeted that he's a better passer than Trae. I like that for several reasons. One is that he's got passing on the brain. The team needs much better ball movement. Two is that he's got OU on the brain. Maybe the prospect of showing OU fans what a great passer he is appeals to him. And three, love the confidence.

Calixte is the point guard for sure. We are battling Arizona, Boston College and some others for him. LK has already visited him and he is supposed to be here in a couple of weeks for a visit.

I don’t know about better than Trae, but the passes I saw in the video I posted definitely impressed me.

I agree with what Vbdad said, Calixte is the best true point guard we’re in on. That said, I wouldn’t pass on Reynolds if things don’t work out with Martin. He’s more of a combo guard, but there’s a lot to like about him too.

Calixte is set to visit OU April 13th.

Sounds like something Trae would say that the morons on here would whine about.. and good luck to calixte, i hope he can lead the nation in assists while simultaneously leading the nation in scoring here at OU and not get railed on by the geniuses on here

He claims he was talking about his teammate Trae Roberts (from Maine)
