I was pretty giddy at the catch right before that. Thinking that the Patriots were going to lose AGAIN by a miraculous catch in a superbowl by a nonheralded receiver.

Exactly. The defense of the call might be more pathetic than the call itself.

Here's some fun stats for you bounce. On 3rd/4th down & less than 2 yards to go New England is worst in the NFL allowing 80% success running the ball. On 3rd/4th & 2 or less Beastmode has converted 83%. It was 2nd & 1. 3 plays with a timeout and a minute on the clock.

Carroll just needs to admit he took the score for granted and panicked over leaving Brady too much time on the clock.
