Kruger was pathetic

I love how people want to place the blame at one person's feet. Be it coach Kruger, Grooms, or Pledger. The thing is it took all of them to build the 22 point lead and it took all of them to lose it. I for one am glad to have coach Kruger. I don't think this team is in position to make the ncaas with out him. And that's a lot better than where we have been in the last few years

Of course he'll take the fault! But it's not on him! PLAYERS made the mistakes and let down! He was chewing on them durin timeouts, he wasn't just sitting there!

Tyler Neal in at 8 minutes! Leaving Grooms on Kabongo on defense! Going away from Osby for a long stretch on offense! Little to no press breaking adjustments!

Radio guys said M'Baye flashed the upside-down Horns sign that everyone saw when OU reached the 22 point lead. Think that might have given the 'Horns the spark(energy?) they were missing? OU has relaxed before with a big lead. We survived Baylor, but not this time.

Two things bugged me about this game.

I don't think we were as bad as people say we were on breaking the press BUT after we broke the press, it was horrible. We never took advantage of having numbers. You would think a coach like Kruger would have corrected this.

I don't blame Mbaye for the horns sign. I personally loved it and saw nothing wrong with it. I did have a problem with Kruger's reaction though. He made it a big deal when it wasn't. We had just put our boot on their throat. they were done. We were attacking and playing with confidence and swagger. Then Kruger sat Mbaye down and we lost all of that. Killed our momentum.

LOL, he can't go out there and dribble for them. This one is NOT on LK, although he always will get some of the blame as coach, it is on SAM GROOMS. As good as he has played in some of the games recently he was AWFUL tonight. Like 10 turnovers in 5 minutes. And other bad decisions. It was all Grooms IMO.

It is on everyone. I am sure if we personally knew Lon Kruger and could speak to him confidentially (and he knew it would not be shared) he would take a good portion of the blame. He will not be happy with his decisions just as the players will not be happy with theirs. It was a horrible loss from a game that should have ended as an OU blow out win.

I too had a problem with LK substitutions at that moment because he basically had all his starters on the bench. If he was going to take M'Baye out he should have brought Osby in. They seem to think the game was over as they were on the bench laughing, joking and that's when Texas went on their run.

Also, I don't understand why LK didn't say anything to his players about going to the basket when they broke the press. They kept running to the 3 point line jacking up 3 pointers or stopping short to shoot jumpers.

I don't blame M'Baye for doing it. He got caught up in the moment. But, Kruger sets the standard for the behavior of the players. It is his perogative and there are no fuzzy lines. The players are not confused as to what the standard is.

Osby's reaction to a foul call got him set down and cost him a start earlier in the season. M'Baye may suffer the same fate.

Didn't Coach Mike K and Duke get drilled by someone by 30 points this year? Guess he's on same page as CLK! Geez!

You won't see a coach at any level gag one worse than that.

typical clown post from a clown poster.

Mbaye if you are going to talk trash ect, you need to be able to back it up and you can't

it sucks that this happened...but In a way, this might be a good thing. It will get our players and coaches ready for the tournament. We know that the game isn't over til its over. Cockiness will get you nowhere. and That we need to know how to break a press.

4 turnovers for the entire game for Grooms

Really? Did you watch the last 7 minutes of the game. Listen, I like Grooms and all but I don't mind calling out someone when they fail at getting something done. If you watched the game and that 7 minute span you know that Grooms had about 15 or so terrible mistakes - not one or two OR FOUR - just go watch it calmly and then look at your above post.

lol are you arguring against the stats?

I have it on DVR if you want to watch. Everyone on here screams that Smart is Sooo much better than his "stats" and want to discount his games where he doesn't score or shoots 25%.

Now you DON'T want to use this same thought process? The "stats" of 4 turnovers do not tell the story - watch the replay and use your eyes.

Stats and studies, etc lie sometimes and my eyes did not lie to me - I watched the last 7 minutes a second time and found my initial thought about it mostly being Grooms Correct.

You can have your own opinion but YES, I am arguing against pulling out one stat and standing on it, YES.

Somebody mentioned it but there is learning to win and then there is learning to win with a target on your back. I think it's obvious that this team slips back into the mode we've seen in recent years. It takes time to build that attitude, killer instinct to step on a teams throat, close the door, all that cliche stuff.
