Classic boob providing evidence in game 1. And you all know it's true. Would love to have seen all your thoughts transcribed into this thread early 3rd qtr. The truth shall set you free.

Being upset about the performance of the team is not the same thing as saying foolish things like Bob Sttoops is not a good coach. I have seen OU under bad coaches. They were named Captain Kangaroo and John Blake. I have seen OU under an average coach. His name was Gary Gibbs.

Bob Stoops is one of the best coaches in the history of college football. He deserves to be mentioned with guys like Barry Switzer, Pete Carrol, Bud Wilkinson, Bo Schembechler, Woody Hays, Bobby Bowden, Tom Osborne, Pete Carrol, Jim Tressel, Joe Paterno (notwithstanding his complete moral failure), Mack Brown, Bear Bryant, Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier etc.

You seem to think OU should win every game. That just doesn't happen. It doesn't happen at OU or anywhere else.

Whoever said Stoops was a bad coach? I will give you Mack Brown & Jim Tressel on that list and add Phil Fulmer. But saying he is one of the alltime greats is comical.

He is well behind the greats of his day and they all smacked him around. Saban, Meyer & Carroll and even Lester Miles. He is miles behind Switzer & Wilkinson at OU.

To say he is in the same league as Bear Bryant is elite homerism at it's best.

To Ryanminor, sorry bro, making the Final 4 is 5 times the accomplishment of making a BCS bowl. Making a BCS bowl in Stoops fashion is the basketball equivalent of winning your conference tournament, getting a #3 seed and getting beat in the second round.

How can you put him behind Carroll, when Carroll is a known cheater?

I agree that Bob ranks behind Saban and Meyer. But that is it. And Bob is 11 points from having a better resume than Meyer.

55-19 ring a bell? That's the day I jumped off the Stoops bandwagon. I left that debacle before halftime and have never been a Stoops believer since which has saved me a lot of grief. The guy is an average coach at an elite program. If he ever makes it through a season without a faceplant I will be pleasantly surprised but am certainly not expecting it.

Did you give up on Switzer after Lou Holtz's suspension-depleted Razorbacks smacked the Sooners in the Orange Bowl? Do you now rate Holtz above Switzer because of that one loss?

Why am I bothering to respond to your trolling? Forget I asked.

As for the 11 points by which Stoops might trail Meyer, one could easily argue that Stoops trails him only by a healthy, active Demarco Murray.

In fairness to you, my heart goes out to any OU fan who shelled out all that money to watch us get embarrassed like that. However, in hindsight, perhaps it was coaching that got them to that game in the first place. I don't think there is a single defensive player from that game on an NFL roster right now. Was there anyone on that defense even a 1st or 2nd team All-American? No wonder USC hung 55 on them.

I would agree that Bob Stoops is an average coach if the NFL was littered with his players, but there are at least 15 schools with more current NFL players than OU...and yet the Sooners keep winning the conference title every other year. He has to be doing something right.

For the record Stoops is a good representative for OU which is important. But when you make $3-4 mil a year and have OU level resources the bar should be set very high.

Out of curiosity I checked and Fulmer had lost 3 fewer games than Stoops through 13 seasons before losing 21 over his last 4.

I stand by that comparison.
