Ku @ ou

Rebounding and good FT percentage saved us tonight....

I'm sorry. Since the TV is in the other room, I didn't see the question. It was on FOX southwest in Dallas, 753 Uverse.

Rebounds: KU 25 OU 48 !!! OU had 24 offensive rebounds !!!
Rebounds: Gardner 8 Griffin14 Griffin had 8 offensive rebounds!!!

These rebounds were so important because KU outshot OU 43.2% to 34.4%.
Despite the fact that KU outshot us, we hit 22 field goals to their 19. They did hit 6 threes to our zero. From the field, we tied. We won free throws 20-17.

Great game by Morgan. Sharane got her 1000 points with a couple more after that. Carter made some key clutch shots, critical. Kornet hit only one of seven from the field, but it was a key putback. She fought hard inside and added two free throws. The starting five were stars tonight.

Question, the way that OU played tonight, how many of the games we lost would we have won?

We fought for everything tonight. We hustled more. We fought harder on the boards. We couldn't hit shots, and we had to gut it out. I am immensely proud of this team at this moment. I hope they have learned how to play.

Every win is good but particularly without our best offensive player.

If you live in Dallas, there is a replay show that replays the entire game, although probably not tonight. I think it is FOX Southwest, but I'm not sure. I watched all of Texas/OU earlier today.

This was one of the better-officiated games that I have seen in the Big Twelve. They did make two bad calls against OU, by the same official, I think. Griffin did not foul Gardner when Gardner lost the ball, picked it up, and actually ran into a completely stationary Griffin with somewhat late in the game. Also, Sharane did not charge into a stationary Gardner. Gardner was running beside Sharane. Other than that, the calls were pretty much what you would expect.

Griffin played 32 minutes tonight, another iron man game. The starting five played 168 of the 200 minutes. Edwards had 11, and Kay Kay had 8. The starters should be tired after two games in which they played a lot.

Second chance points: KU 0 OU 23
Points off fast break turnovers: KU 6 OU 2

The KU scores off fast breaks were on handoffs out front, and they simply got the ball too far ahead of the defense. But, points off turnovers actually went to OU, 14-12. We just didn't get any fast break opportunities.

OU only has two wins this season when the opposition had a higher field goal percentage: Texas on Wednesday and Kansas tonight.
