Could it be LK just does better against teams not in the Big 12 who are very familiar with OU and what LK does?

Last year OU was ranked in the Top 5 in the non-con, this year only one loss against pretty good competition - three first round NCAA tournament winners (Wofford, Wiscy, and Florida) and then TODAY, wow. What a great performance.

I know OU didn't win last year versus Rhode Island, but I believe by that time the team was fractured beyond repair.

Today reminded me of the last two non-con schedules - crisp shooting, active defense and having FUN! It was a joy to watch.

Who knows what Sunday holds, but I do know, I am happy to watch this team play again!

How does this work when we know exactly what the other Big 12 teams "do" as well? Why does that not offset?

I am not sure. Just pointing out what seems to be happening. Not sure why, but it does appear the Sooners struggle against teams more familiar with their personnel and schemes.

KState lost so there's not another Big 12 team in our way until the Final 4 :woot

I feel like we don’t do a good job preparing for what other teams are going to do. We consistently look like we’ve never seen a zone defense before when Baylor trots it out. I think we likely work too much on ourself rather than game planning the other team.

I believe that the games are officiated differently during the conference season. We have so many conference foes that mug you so much that they stop calling certain fouls. During the tournament and non con it seems like the games are called much tighter which helps OU.

I agree, just look at the foul differential in the game.

This team is not good against physical defenses. Some of the non-conf matchup advantages we have had is style and some of it is officiating. Today we also had a big matchup advantage in the paint which does not happen often. Sunday will be a different test.

I don't think it's a conference vs non-conference thing. I was kinda thinking the opposite up until Buddy left, as it seemed like we were destined to go 12-6 regardless of our roster. I suppose you could argue that teams have adjusted to our style, but I personally don't believe that to be true. I also don't think the coaching has gotten that much better, as some would argue. Dixon and Beard are huge upgrades, but we've also had downgrades with Hoiberg and Martin leaving that slightly offset it.

We've certainly done better OOC, but we mainly just have a lot of decent wins. If I'm not mistaken, we didn't have to play any top 25 teams. Wofford is a decent win, but it's not anything wild to brag about.
