With 22 points and 12 rebounds, fellow UConn recruit Christyn Williams was the star of the main event at Philips Arena on Wednesday night. Williams went 4-for-4 on 3-pointers in the first half and led the East to an 82-79 victory in the annual showcase. She was named the game's MVP.
Williams, the No. 1 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Top 100, scored the first basket of the day for the West, a 3-pointer, and the West took a 47-40 lead into halftime.
"I've just been playing my game," Williams said of her big first half. "Everything is just coming to me."
She had a double-double halfway through the third quarter. Her 22 points tied for third-most in the game's 17-year history.
Williams added the McDonald's MVP to her long list of accomplishments, which already included the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Player of the Year, the Naismith Player of the Year, the Morgan Wootten Player of the Year and the Gatorade National Player of the Year.
Williams averaged 26.8 points and 10.4 rebounds as a senior at Central Arkansas Christian (Little Rock) after signing with UConn in November.
Baylor signee Queen Egbo added 13 points and five blocks for the West.
Oklahoma signee Madison Williams had 13 points and seven rebounds for the East.
As for Nelson-Ododa, she said her Instagram account gained "a million" followers after her Monday night magic. She finished with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks for the East.
"I hope it makes an impact on the women's basketball scene," Nelson-Ododa said of her dunk. "I'm happy I could do it, and it felt great."

Best rebounder: Baylor-bound Aquira DeCosta had 10 rebounds in 18 minutes for the West, including an excellent tip-in that showed off her athleticism and elevation in the first quarter.
Best defender: Egbo not only had 13 points, but she also caused chaos on the defensive side. She finished with 5 blocks, 2 steals and 8 rebounds, 5 on defensive side.
Best motor: Oklahoma recruit Madison Williams filled up the stat sheet in 20 minutes on the court. She finished with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and a steal. She was 6-for-11 from the floor, including a 3-pointer.
