Quite simply the best looking player on the East squad.
Her best position is at the 3. She defended well, had one great block.
Runs the floor like a gazelle, gets team mates involved. Good rebounding.
Easy to imagine her running the floor with Ana, Shaina, and Tatum.

We just need some 4s/5s. You've got a difference maker at 3.

Same thoughts.

I think Madi will lead the team in rebounding... but will be asked to guard bigger players. I think she will have to play the 4, unless Tatum, Ana, or Shay comes off the bench... since OU plays 4 out 1 in, I think she can still display most of her skills on offense.

She was very impressive. Can't wait to see her in a Sooner uniform.

After tonight, the spring JUCO center became a much more important recruit.
Also, Lampkin became a lot more important signee.
And the need for one legit big in 2019 just became pivotal.
The pieces are all there.
Madi is legit. We have the two best program freshman in a while since DRob.
Tatum's played with and against all the girls in that McD's game.

If you have not seen the game here is a link to a replay on ESPN3.

Before you click it, let me warn you that it may frustrate you to listen to the two announcers who probably talk about the actual game for maybe 3 minutes out of the 40 minutes of game time. They constantly talk about people they have met, UCONN, etc. Strange. Madi does look great.

Those announcers were horrible! I’m guessing that is why we’ve never heard of or seen them before! :ez-roll:

The old guy was Olson, the guy who is "the scout" you see listed on all of the HoopGurlz player rankings.

Written by Dan Olson:
ATLANTA -- With one dunk, UConn recruit Olivia Nelson-Ododa became the star Monday night at the Powerade Jam Fest, part of the festivities leading up to the McDonald's All American Game.

UConn recruit Williams named Gatorade POY

A twist to McDonald's All American rosters

With 22 points and 12 rebounds, fellow UConn recruit Christyn Williams was the star of the main event at Philips Arena on Wednesday night. Williams went 4-for-4 on 3-pointers in the first half and led the East to an 82-79 victory in the annual showcase. She was named the game's MVP.

Williams, the No. 1 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Top 100, scored the first basket of the day for the West, a 3-pointer, and the West took a 47-40 lead into halftime.

"I've just been playing my game," Williams said of her big first half. "Everything is just coming to me."

She had a double-double halfway through the third quarter. Her 22 points tied for third-most in the game's 17-year history.

Williams added the McDonald's MVP to her long list of accomplishments, which already included the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Player of the Year, the Naismith Player of the Year, the Morgan Wootten Player of the Year and the Gatorade National Player of the Year.

Williams averaged 26.8 points and 10.4 rebounds as a senior at Central Arkansas Christian (Little Rock) after signing with UConn in November.

Baylor signee Queen Egbo added 13 points and five blocks for the West.

Oklahoma signee Madison Williams had 13 points and seven rebounds for the East.

As for Nelson-Ododa, she said her Instagram account gained "a million" followers after her Monday night magic. She finished with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks for the East.

"I hope it makes an impact on the women's basketball scene," Nelson-Ododa said of her dunk. "I'm happy I could do it, and it felt great."

Christyn Williams left no doubt about who the best player in the game was (she had a game high in both points and rebounds), but here are some other superlatives from the night.

Best passer: In a game that's all about pouring in points, Jordan Nixon stood out for her passing ability, drawing the defense and dishing off for a layup. The Notre Dame recruit finished with five assists in 17 minutes on the court.

Best rebounder: Baylor-bound Aquira DeCosta had 10 rebounds in 18 minutes for the West, including an excellent tip-in that showed off her athleticism and elevation in the first quarter.

Best defender: Egbo not only had 13 points, but she also caused chaos on the defensive side. She finished with 5 blocks, 2 steals and 8 rebounds, 5 on defensive side.

Best motor: Oklahoma recruit Madison Williams filled up the stat sheet in 20 minutes on the court. She finished with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and a steal. She was 6-for-11 from the floor, including a 3-pointe

Excited to see Madison, and others, play in LNC next year!

One last note, whatever recruiting service that ranked Madi 75th in the nation needs to go and shut down because their methodology is freaking useless.

That was HoopGurlz and Olson. They mentioned her as #77 last night. Originally, she had been up around 15.

Welcome, young lady...

Help us Obi-Wan Williams. You're our only hope.

Not really our only hope, but you are one of them!

There were a couple of very revealing times in the game. Christyne Williams and Madison Williams are friends. Christyne was the leading scorer in the game and is headed to UConn. She was something like four of five from three, and she can shoot. Good player.

But, Madison was isolated on Christyne a couple of times. Christyne could not get away from Madison. Madison was all over her, wouldn't let her shoot, wouldn't let her drive. Once, Christyne lost it out of bounds, but they gave it to her. She fed someone else with the inbounds pass who scored. But, Madison can play defense against the best.

Right, I wonder who she will be asked to guard next year if she has to play the 4... I think Tatum can be a great defensive player as well...

She was pretty effective last night when guarding a post. She kept her from getting the ball, wouldn't let her dribble. Also seemed to prevent the post from getting position. She's rather active.
