Chantae Embry, Prague
She’s big, fast and powerful, a lethal combination.
Prague’s 6-2 superstar who is committed to Oklahoma State has caught national and local attention. She’s ranked No. 1 in her class by some recruiting services.
And she’s the reason why Prague is No. 3 in Class 3A.
Last week, she closed the regular season with 30 points in a loss to Jones.
“She’s a beast,” Jones coach Jenni Holbrook said. “I don’t know how else to say it. How do you stop her? We don’t know.”
Raychael Harjo, Edmond North
Another tall star, Harjo has found her way in Class 6A alongside her older sister, Veronica. Raychael, though, has become a gem. She can shoot outside and inside. She rebounds. She passes well.
That all makes her one of the more intriguing freshmen in the class entering Thursday’s regional tournament opener against Yukon.
Aaliyah Moore, Moore
A 6-2 star, Moore has led a resurgent Lions team that has become dangerous.
Early in the year, she spent time trying to find her way in Class 6A and the rugged Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference schedule.
After two tight losses in Moore’s John Noble Invitational, she’s looked like a different player. The Lions have won seven of the past eight games entering Thursday’s huge game with Midwest City to open the regional tournament.
Kelbie Washington, Norman
There have been growing pains. But for Washington, she’s worked hard to get through them.
That’s made a difference for the Tigers.
Washington is an impressive point guard, and when she’s on the floor the Tigers have been better. She runs the offense well, finds open teammates and can make big baskets in big moments.
And entering the regional tournament on a bit of a skid, Norman needs its dynamic point guard to lead the way.
