Matt Freeman

I mentioned in the AK injury thread the possibility of playing Freeman during the second semester this season to help with post depth.

What are your thoughts on this?

I have learned after the 2008-09 season that these types of seasons that OU is about to embark on don't happen every year and nothing is certain regarding the future.

I think Matt should play IF he can help the team. I just don't see a good outcome with AK with this foot injury (hope I am wrong).

Terrible idea.
He will already been an entire summer and a half a semester behind everyone else.

If AK is injured makes it to where he can't play this season and McNeace, Buford, and Cole can't make up his minutes than we have a much larger problem at hand. But, regardless, there is no way Freeman arrives in January and would be ready to take minutes away from any of those three.

Yeah, having a HS kid playing against miserable competition make his debut in conference play is an atrocious idea. Let him get acclimated to being in college in a country literally across the globe from him before you throw him into that fire.

Not to mention burning a kid's shirt to play him extremely limited minutes is a terrible idea in general.

I mean, if he steps on campus and is better than our 3rd or maybe 4th post.....or if we have guys go down with injuries, you might think about it. But I don't think he'll be better than what we have. Highly unlikely I'd imagine.

Exactly...if he is good enough why the hell not? It's dumb to not let a talented guy help you in a special year like this if he's able to.

Is AK's injury really that serious? Damn that would hurt bad. Guess Lattin better earn the 'Big Daddy' nickname then, with Buford living up to his HS ranking (I always thought he was going to be good). And if Fran's tweet is accurate, McNeace could help out. But no, don't play him. Use the redshirt wisely

If he is good enough to play and help the team win then he should play. This team has a chance to make a final four run and needs all hands on deck. If he is not good enough to play then he should sit out...
