If Capel was there today, he saw him drop 23 in his first game. He's a 6-2 guard. Son of former NBA player Paul Pressey and brother of Missouri signee Phil Pressey. Was apparently his juco region's Player of the Year. Could be a name that emerges.

Looks like he has some nice offers from Nebraska, Missouri and Houston.

Pressey scored 23 points in Navarro’s 66-65 first-round victory Tuesday over Middle Georgia. He’s the son of former NBA player and current New Orleans Hornets assistant coach Paul Pressey.

The Region 14 MVP, Pressey averages 17 points.

“He’s one of those guys that can wear many hats,” Navarro coach Johnny Estelle said. “For us, last year, he was a glue guy, very good complement guy, good defender. This year, he’s our go-to guy offensively.

“I think he could play any role, because he’s dedicated to winning, and being a winner, you can put him anywhere on the floor. He’s had to play different roles over the course of his career. Anything the coach asks him to do, he’s going to be able to do.”

Sadler attended all six of Tuesday’s first-round games, along with assistant coach Phil Matthews. When Nebraska’s season ended in last week’s Big 12 Tournament, Sadler said he’d be on the hunt for a guard.

“The college game is about guards,” he said. “You have to have somebody who can go make a play.”

Pressey said he’s fulfilled that role this season in place of DeAndre Brown, last season’s Texas junior college player of the year who’s now with Louisiana Tech.

“Last year, my role was to defend and chip in on the points here and there,” Pressey said. “For the most part, my scoring’s picked up. I’m basically a playmaker for my team. I’m taking the spot DeAndre had, making passes, bringing the ball up the floor, making shots.”

Nebraska has a connection to Navarro in Eric Colbert, who served two seasons as Sadler’s team manager for player development and is now a Navarro assistant. But Missouri has signed Pressey’s younger brother, Phil, a 5-9 point guard.

Matt Pressey says his recruitment is wide open.

“Wait until after the season,” he said, “and then pick five schools or so and then go take a visit.”

Pressey continues to impress. Watched him a little bit last night and he'd be an upgrade over Willis and Pledger. He scored 20 last night in their quarterfinal win and here is what the opposing coach said about him.

Navarro sophomore guard Matt Pressey added 20 points as two combined to make 10 of 19 3-pointers.

"Pressey is a heck of a player and he's going to get his," East Mississippi coach Mark White said. "He can drive, he can shot the 3 and he's got a mid-range game. Thibodeaux, he got a couple there. Once he got them, he went off. He made some tough ones. We didn't do a very good job on him because we let him get in a rhythm. Once we did that, he was just making shots."

Like I posted above, he is the son of former NBA star Phil Pressey. Missouri and Nebraska have offered.

BTW, Pressey will be going head-to-head against Marquise Carter Friday night in the seminfinals. You can watch the game here........

Thanks for the update... Man, Nebraska would have a pretty good 3-man juco class if they got Pressey. I can't imagine him wanting to go to Mizzou with Mike Dixon, Phil Pressey, and Miguel Paul already in the program.

I wouldn't mind a late signing class of Matt Pressey, Marquise Carter, Aziz N'Diaye and C.J. Washington to go with Clark and Taylor. We may be needing to add a third big man to that group though if today's reports are true.

I'm not sure if the Mizzou offer is legit. There are currently no scholarships available, and while Anderson is actively recruiting, the focus is on a post player, not a guard.

I have heard that he's considering walking on at Mizzou, though.

If he has an offer from Mizzou, i wouldn't waste my time.
