McLean talks about his commitment to OU

From the tape of his Rucker park play, he reminded me of a calvin newell with handles or grooms with a jump shot. Actually, he also reminds me of Woodard. strong 6 foot kid with some skills. Playground is a lot different from organized high d-1 ball, so we will see.

As between he and Woodard, I think he looks good enough that Lon will let him compete and will play whoever wins the job.

Another good thing about him, even if he is really good, is that he only has one or two years left and so I would think he wouldn't scare off any of our 2015 guard recruits.

I don't think I've ever heard of a juco transfer only having 1 year to play once he transfers into D-1. Seems very odd to me. I love this addition and just pray that there aren't any acaemic hurdles that keeps him from being able to play.

Welcome aboard Gio!!

I guess this is like getting a 5th year guy?

I remember reading he is 23. Just didn't sound right.

It's 4 years since he got out of high school. If he went to prep school for a year and then sat out a year without playing (which is what the articles said) he should have 2 to play 2.

But since he has bounced around during those 4 years they will have to document and verify everything.

Sounds like he may only have 1 year...

As I recall, a big reason that OU didn't try to sign John Starks back in the fall of '87 was that he only had one year of eligibility. But, OU got Mookie Blaylock that year, who was a better college player.

1 year? That is probably a big reason we went after him in front of some others. Still lets us go do work in recruiting next year, which there seem to be a lot of good guards in that class.

There is confusion whether he has 1 or 2 years left..

It can't be that difficult if he isn't asking for a waiver.

5 years to play 4, starts when you enroll in college.

John Starks was a juco that Billy Tubbs wanted maybe but he went to osu. Everyone new he had only one year left. He was good but undrafted out of college and made the NBA , very notably with the Knicks in the Jordan days.

I never thought he would have been such a good pro. And I still remember "the dunk" like it was yesterday.
