Coached under Gillispie at Texas A&M (assistant and recruiting coordinator) and has done well at Marquette.

Great recruiting connections in Texas high school ranks and jucos, and recruits that area for Marquette well.

Texas native who graduated from Oklahoma City University. Also had a stint there as an assistant coach.

Really energetic and entertaining coach on the sideline.

Knowing that his roots are from Oklahoma and Texas, would he leave Marquette for Oklahoma?

Is marquette a better job than ou? I know they have better fan support and marquette is a basketball schoool. I think many coaches are going to be reluctant to consider the ou job because of the current roster and impending ncaa infractions.

Marquette is a better job right now for sure.

How much it pays its head coach? more than 1.5 mils?

No I think he's making about $1 mill per but that doesn't negate the fact. Ask yourself as a recruit if you'd rather play in the Bradley Center or LNC? Or if you'd rather play in the Big East or Big 12? Or would you want to play for a team that hasn't missed a NCAA tourney since '05 compared to a team that missed last year's tourney and will definitely miss this year's?

Easy choice.

Marquette spends the second most for basketball next to Duke according to budgets released by the NCAA. I was shocked to see that. Only two schools spend over $10 million annually- Duke and Marquette. And only a handful over $8 million- Michigan State, Louisville, Texas, Kentucky, Kansas, Syracuse and North Carolina.

They don't have to release what they are paying Buzz, but I would guess it is well North of $2 million annually. Doesn't mean he wouldn't be interested in the Oklahoma job. Just providing some context.

Might come across as insincere. But I hate to see OU's struggles mainly for the respect that I have come to have for BigTime, Soonersam and other good posters on this board. Hope you all right the ship. I wouldn't bail on Capel yet. Give him the year to see what develops. Lots of new players is always tough on chemistry early on. But I agree that the effort today could have been better. I was especially disappointed in Pledger and Fitzgerald. Those guys need to step up in games like that.

OU is a crappy job, let's face facts. Nobody reputable wanted the job and that's why Capel ended up with the job to begin with.

Buzz Williams?

lol, come on now. OU's got nothing on Marquette right now.
