Mid Season Decision Cost Us

It wasn't defense that lost the game because we actually caused some turnovers...it was all the missed threes. If hield hits two more, it's a completely different game. Or if Neal hit his second.

Exactly the way I see it, ben. Yes, we were pretty bad defensively at times, but we also had spurts where we had a bunch of hands in the passing lanes and thus made some big steals. I think the two pretty much evened themselves out.

But Hield missed so many wide-open treys – the kind of shots that he usually drains. If he hits just a couple more of those, and if we make our free throws down the stretch, we win in regulation by just about double figures.

I'll throw in an "I agree" as well. The beginning of the season and the refs really were making an emphasis on enforcing the rules. I don't know if the numbers would really reflect it or not, but it seems like we got to the line a lot more early in the season when they were calling the hand checks tighter. Towards the end of the season, most refs appeared to just fall back into their normal modes and just let play continue (and make horrible calls at the ends of games). I understand that there are going to be bad calls against both teams during a game, but one would appreciate that simple guidelines would be established early on by officials. Cousins' foul was horrible and on him, Woodard's foul was something that shouldn't have been called and typically isn't. On to next year!!
