They went 13-29 from the 3pt line and won the rebounding battle by 15.

They are 6'10'' 240, and 6'9'' 240 in the paint.

Their guards are pretty good with a transfer from Pitt and a transfer from Vanderbilt.. Those two guys combined for 35 points, 16 assists, and 11 rebounds in the opener.

Should be a good game...

I remember when Cleveland State was a force in college, although for a short period of time. Can't remember who their coach was.

Norris Cole was their point guard. Also Anthony Davis was committed to play point guard there until he grew 11 inches.

Checked Wiki and they became the first 14 seed to make it to the sweet 16 (beating Indiana/Bobby Knight) only to lose by a point to a David Robinson led Navy team back in 86.

No kidding? Didn't know that about AD.

Yeah checked the story again. Apparently he grew 8 inches in 18 months and before he grew his only offer was Cleveland State, so I guess he didn't commit there.

The next 2 games should tell us more about this team. I like playing good teams early. I think it can only help the team get better, even if we lose.

I think OSU is the better of the two teams we are getting ready to play. But Minnesota will be a nice test because it will be a team with Big Ten athletes, so it is a step up in overall talent from what we faced the other night. Would be nice to be at full strength, but I will be surprised if Hill plays.

Kevin Mackey was their coach when they upset Indiana back in ‘86. Rollie Massimino also coached there a few years later (late ‘90’s, iirc).

Minnesota is not near as long and tall as OU. If we play perimeter defense worth a flip we should be ok. They shoot a ton of 3's.

Mackey was credited for discovering Manute Bol and I think the school was placed on probation for his recruitment.

Yeah, he was 6’8” by the start of his junior year of HS, and named the #1 player in the class of 2011. The rumors are his Dad asked for $200,000 for his signature .... and he did go to Kentucky.

He was for sale and Cleveland State wasn’t even on his radar. Read about his HS career: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Davis

Cleveland state was his first D1 offer as a sophomore when he was a 6’2 pg.

I saw a reporter tweet that Lon is hopeful he'll be available Tuesday. Of course, who knows with concussions.

Yeah, that seems kind of soon -- fingers crossed.

On a play during which he took an elbow to the head forcefully enough to cause a concussion, no foul was called.

What surprised me about that incident is that the refs did not even go look at the video to determine that it was all innocent. Most times when there is an injury to the head or neck they review the video to see what happened. But the refs were all unconcerned.
