I was surprised that Barnes didn't take a timeout after the Tigers came out in that zone defense for the final possession. The Horns appeared to be confused and were passing aimlessly around the perimeter and there was still plenty of time to get a TO and set up a different play.

Regardless, you should call two plays in the huddle...one for man the other for zone.

I assume he did, which would explain the lack of a timeout.

Surely any coach at this level would realize the possibility of a zone there, especially when playing a team that had used plenty of it throughout the game.

The ESPN score box showed they had one left. I even checked it again with about 12 seconds left because I couldn't believe that they didn't call a TO once the offense had stagnated.
