who is the white headed zebra. I can't say for sure that he was on someone's payroll but he sure was personally responsible for keeping w vir from getting blown out. after the sooners went up 11 early, the white haired joke of an official took the ball away from ou 4 straight times, and allowed sooners to be mugged under the basket numerous other times while w vir got back in the game. there needs to be a review of all of the game officiating by someone other than the shills who do it now. ed hightower is still around. something is bad wrong.

I was sitting right behind the W. Virginia bench. The interaction between Huggins and the refs was certainly interesting the entire game. He did a GREAT job of intimidating and getting them on his side from the time they came out on the court.

All refs are bad...! Get used to it!

I liked the white headed guy because completely RIPPED stanten last night in the 1st half for whinning about not getting calls.

It was both ways for sure.

I noticed that, too. Tom Eades is the white haired guy the OP is talking about. I thought he did a decent job last night. The other two officials spent way too much time in WVU's huddle trying to pacify Huggins. It was obvious they were intimated by him.

Agreed. OU was victim to a flop on Spangler and two consecutive bogus charge calls on Neal at the end of the half but as you said, the refs don't determine the outcome.

i thought the first call on neal was a good one ... the second was terrible

The officiating in the first half was some of the worst I've ever seen. Calling the game extremely inconsistently with some ticky tack fouls called, while other muggings no-called. Blatanly missed travels and palmings, and even missing stuff like out of bounds calls.

Second half officiating was a lot better.

It seems the worse the officiating is, the fewer replays we get on TV. I questioned some of the same calls mentioned above but I don't remember seeing replays of of them so I could make up my mind if I was right or wrong.

This comes back to not having an intimidating home crowd. Rowdy fans are always good for an extra call or two a game. That's just the way it is. The best example of that was the '89 game against Missouri when Billy Tubbs got "The Technical." I believe 9 of the next 10 calls went AGAINST Missouri. I hope no one actually believes that was coincidental.

Random question, but has LK gotten a technical since he's been here?

I'm not a fan of coaches getting intentional T's at all, so I'm glad he doesn't employ that "strategy".

I ran the questionable calls and no-calls back several times to make sure that what I saw in real time was correct.

Trust me, the charging call against Tyler was as bad as any you'll ever see. So was the no-call on the clear out under WVU's basket. I have no idea how the baseline official could have missed that call? :facepalm

Spangler ran that guy over. Lon told him to take it to him that position.

Spangs ran him smooth over!

Like most fans, I'm prone to get upset at officials in the heat of the moment during a game. I think the officials missed a couple in the WVU game. I bet WVU fans feel the same. Overall, my main issue with reffing this year has been the inconsistency in the freedom of movement calls. I am on the record as thinking a physical brand of basketball is fun to watch so I didn't love the new emphasis. Still, I think if you are going to do it then you need to follow through. The fact that in any game I have no clue if the refs will honor the rule or not is a major problem. No matter how you felt about the rule, what they are doing is worse for everyone.

Yeah the first call on Neal was the right call. The second was clearly not.

The call on Spangler was the right call. He ducked his shoulder. Sure, the WVU was going to try to take the charge no matter what, but Spangler did exactly what you can't do, lower the shoulder. The defensive guy guessed right.

It was great watching that ref and Staten. I think it was Hield reached in knocked the ball off Staten's foot. I was behind OU's bench. Staten looked at the ref and said it was off Buddy. The ref looked at him and said "It went off your foot". Staten kept arguing and the ref just kept repeating "It went off your foot" over and over.

I'm sure you never missed a call. ;)

How did you deal with a coach like Huggins who b-lines straight to refs at time outs to berate you? Just nod your head then tell him he his wrong or what?

You know how spouses tune each other out? "Yes, dear." Officials do the same thing, "Yes, Coach."

;)
