Mulkey Transferring

#Sooners C Nancy Mulkey has been granted a release and is expected to transfer. Started 18 games last season and registered 62 blocks.

Seriously WTF is going on??
An entire recruiting class is gone. Rich didn't play at all.
A senior laden team just crashed out of the NCAAs.
3 player class incoming and OU needs 5 freshman at least.

Between seniors and transfers/retirements that's 8 players off the roster.
3 incoming freshman.
PF/C spot next year is pretty much VPL who has been a great contributor and
Ijeoma Odimgbe who has barely played. That's it.
And there's 0 freshman incoming at PF/C.
And right now no verbals at PF/C.
In fact right now, for 2018-2019 right now there's one player over 6ft. Ijeoma Odimgbe.

She did need to develop but at least she could give Vivi a break and play defense. 2018 class is going to have to be really really good.

Instead of the young team excuse, Sherri can now blame a 3rd place finish on the Transfers, still don't think this will hurt OU that much other then a lack of depth up front.

In discussion with Oliver Hardy I implied we did not have enough information to point a finger at Sherri and staff when Dungee transferred. But with Mulkey now transferring when both would expect to play 20-30 minutes per game and potential be a starter I now see a red flag somewhere within the program. Hope I am wrong.

I agree something is going on, but it's also worth noting we have a player coming back for her sixth year. If something was really wrong why wouldn't she have just moved on? Definitely strange though.

You are correct. Understandable if someone who is not getting to play transfers. I have said before that I had rather plat at UCO, Langston, etc. than ride the pines at a larger scool but something is wrong with this picture.

Yes unless WVA comes out hot and not off to a slow start... OU lost 2 role players, not seeing Dungee or Mulkey as game changer or even All big 12 talent, at 1 time Mulkey looked like she could be a Big 12 POY, but as the season went along it became clear to see why schools like Baylor and Texas never gave her a offer...

I'm sure I will be cooked on here for this opinion, but, here goes. I felt Mulkey regressed during the year. It did not appear to me that she was being coached in ways that would help her develop or improve to her strengths. Also, it never seemed that the rest of the team had been coached in a way that would help the other players learn how to properly utilize the big girl. For example, constantly making entry passes or inbounds passes at her waist or knees. I could go on, but, I'm sure I've said enough now to be crucified by the pumpers.

Dungee's loss is more important than that of Mulkey's. EJ just became much more important to the team's success. We've never had much success recruiting strong forwards since Amanda T. I thought Dungee would be a starter.
