Mustang's Jakolby Long offered by Iowa State

Yes this is terry longs son. Mustangs coach.

OU pulled his and Meyer's offer about a year ago. I think scouts Justin hite did a write up on it.

Would you take Long, if PP, ledeeky, or Juco cats don't work out. (I do NOT think OU will go back and offer)

No, can't play point and not near as good as wings that would be in front of him. Also doesn't seem to be the player who would be content being a 4 year reserve.

No, probably not. I'm not sure we need another wing. We have Odomes, James, McGusty, Doolittle, and Buford as young wings already, and they will all have 3-4 years left to play when Long graduates.... McGusty and Doolittle graduate at the same time Long does.

You can't go back and recruit a player you have already recruited over. He's not a PG so a big no...

I agree. I wouldn't take him either. Just wanted to see if anyone would.

Nope. I love the kid, and he'd certainly not hurt you if you decided to take him, but I'm just not sure he's going to be a difference maker at the D1 level...I always think Bryatt Vann/David Godbold when I see him play.

Bryatt Vann averaged 17 a game his Sr. year. I think I could learn to tolerate that, even if it did take a year or 2 to develop. :)

Yes and there is always room for a David Godbold/Seth Littrel on
Your roster...

That's a bit of an insult to Bryatt Vann.

And I liked David Godbold!

Why? Long, like those two, almost has a football build. He has a similar skill set. I'm not sure Kruger takes either of those guys with the kids he's getting now. That's not really a knock on them...just like it's not really a knock on Long. We're just able to get higher rated players now.

I'm not sure, if I were him, I would want to come to OU after they pulled out on him. I think he's going to surprise a lot of people. The kid was a top scorer through the EYBL and through the Peach Jam. Also, he was an original invite to the Nike Global Challenge where Doolittle was a replacement ad-in (not taking anything away from the kid at all). And from what I read, OU backed off at that time because he was still involved with football at the time - not because "he couldn't play".

I agree that OU needs a PG badly at this point... But to say he won't be a difference maker on the next level is a bit of a stretch... Besides, other than Buddy - OU doesn't have a guy who has been "off the charts" on the wing. McGusty can play and if he signs, it'll be a good addition! But if anyone thinks Doolittle is going to play the wing in the Big 12 (and be effective), you have never watched him play.

Sometimes, it's just not a good fit and that's okay. I think that it's just not a good fit in this situation for the kid and the program. I don't think it "speaks down" on either... It's just not the right situation for either party... However, if he does end up in the Big 12 and has the success that he could, it'll be funny.

David Godbold currently plays for BG Goettingen in Germany... He averages 8.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.4 steals, and shoots 36% from the 3pt line.

He plays on the same team as Khalid El-Amin (UCONN), Raymar Morgan (Michigan State), Jamal Boykin (Duke).

Long shot 35% from the field, every stat line I saw from him showed he was shooting a ton of shots. So while he did score, his efficiency was terrible.

Doolittle moves extremely well and has a great looking shot out to 15 feet. If he can tighten up his handle and guard on the perimeter (which he hasn't been needed to do in HS) then he can be a very solid big12 perimeter player. He grabs rebounds, great body control, and great coordination for a player his size.
