1. Pellington. We aren’t getting enough scoring out of Taylor. If it’s not Pellington, I’d go with Jess. TV is good, but we need points from the point and she isn’t producing.

2. Llanusa. No explanation needed.

3. Robertson. No explanation needed.

4. Williams. No explanation needed.

5. Toss Up... I’d give Williston a real shot to see what she can do in a game with extended minutes. The main reason is she is the tallest of our choices. If not her, I’d go with whichever is playing hotter.

If you watch Williston in the early warmups starting a little more than an hour prior to the game you will note she can shoot lights out to about 15' but especially 10' and in from both baselines and the wing. Have also seen her shoot well from the elbow. But have not seen her work with her back to the basket. Just a straight up set/jump shot.

She obviously must have some difficulty running the floor, defensive end, physical issue or Sherri would have to be giving her at least a shot. Something has to be missing that we cannot not see from sitting in the stands. But when she has gotten only 21 minutes for the season something is amiss.

I would agree with all you’ve said, but at the very least, give her some longer game experience stints and see what she does in games where we are getting murdered.

Let’s bring Sherri’s daughter-in-law in to coach. My guess is she’s a Hell of a lot better than her husband. She’s played more
basketball than he ever did.😉

Would she replace Thrailkill or DeCosta we know Colton is here to stay?

I watched Aspen during last years state tournament. As far as shooting the basketball, she indeed can shoot from 15 on in, and is efficient. However she does not know how to block out, she used her height to rebound, has very poor foot work on the block and does not run the floor well. I do think if we had a coach who would put extra time in with her, she could be someone we could depend on, especially from the high post. That's the problem, we don't have anyone who can coach a post player.

Thank you for the appraisal. I hadn’t seen her at all except for the ever-so-brief time she has been on the floor this season.

Also saw her in high school, You are spot on. She is the type that needs a lot of work. You are correct about no one being able to coach post players. I feel like she would be the starting center if we had someone to teach her the fine points she did not need to excel in Class 4A high school basketball. Its a shame.

Someone taught Vivi who came to OU knowing nothing about basketball.

Really, she new nothing!!! She definitely came to OU with a knee injury but played well in HS!! She also played behind Kaylan Williams, her first two years. She is one of the few players who got better every year under Sherri.

As always you note the exception. I am certain you could identify a couple more. But for every player you can note for developing I am certain we can identify dozens who failed to develop. It is what it is.

The key to quality coaching is developing far more successes than failures. Unfortunately that trend has been going 180 degrees the wrong direction for almost a decade.

Remember how many years of basketball she had played? Her rankings were on size and mobility. What was her history?

Did Manning get better? How about Little or Ortiz? Did Vining or Hook get better? How about Courtney? How many people here and elsewhere have voiced their opinion that she didn’t?

I say they didn’t. They were good players coming in (Courtney was great) and they were good players going out. But they didn’t grow or improve, IMO.

Conversely, I would say Amanda did, Abi did and D-Rob did.

But I agree with Spock. For every one you can say did improve, you can name 3-4 that didn’t.

And I know, Syb, you will now provide us with a bunch stats that you believe will prove your point. Let me say to that...stats are only part of the equation.

Fortunately there are 5 times the stats Syb can provide substantiating the opposite.

Remember, Syb is the one who swore for years Maddie Manning would be the second coming and he made excuse after excuse.

He had to eat most of that praise.

I would say that averaging 22 points and 13-14 rebounds during her Junior and Senior Year in HS while winning the Florida State Championship is pretty impressive.
