You will probably never see a second team come in en mass, IMO. Most good coaches usually keeps a mixture of more experienced players mixed with less experienced, starters with back-ups; leadership on the court so you can get productive experience for the second team, and hopefully provide and develop better leadership of your starters. Hopefully this keeps team play sharp. That is why team play gets so ragged at the end of blowouts, with all back-ups in there.
I would rather see development using this method, as I have seen it be very productive-of course at a high school level. It would still allow us to use lots of players, and be fresh the whole game.
