Just my opinion.
I've been sitting back waiting for Sherri to do her usual "salvage" the season and reconnect all the broken pieces. Making all of my knee jerk complaints look silly as per usual.
But something just appears off.
Watching the Baylor game these are the problems as I see it.
1. Hooks is not a PG. She's a two guard. It's a huge problem with the lack of leadership elsewhere.
2. Sherri should be starting Griffin/Williams but cannot due to depth/foul trouble reasons. Lack of post recruiting talent/depth is killing this team.
3. Too many of the same types of players. T'ona and Gioya are not 2s. But right now are not full time PGs either.
4. Too many players who are too short for the positions they have to play, and others don't have the perimeter game or the quickness for the position they need to play.
The good thing is I think there are fixes in the offseason. But each one creates problems.
1. Ortiz takes over at PG. She's that special kind of PG leader. Which is great. However, what do you do with T'ona/Gioya/Laneisha??
2. Little takes over at the 2 guard spot. Who is the backup? again can Gioya/Laneisha play the two?
3. A healthy Manning takes over at the 3 spot. Kornet/Campbell ???
4. Williams plays the 4. Kellogg in year two is ready to provide more minutes at 4. Hopefully
in year two some minutes from Gibbs?
5. Pierre Louis starts at center. Her backup is Williams.
I really think Sherri needs to sign a mobile 3/4 from JUCO ranks. Unfortunately I can see several transfers occurring to open this option. I do think Ortiz, Little, and Pierre Louis will be a serious talent infusion for the Sooners
