With Sooner fans having such high hopes for a 6'9" center recruit just a few years ago, I was curious to see how she was doing. After she sat out last year at Rice as a transfer, I was surprised to see that she has not yet played this season. Is Nancy injured? Does anyone know why she is not yet playing at Rice? (Sorry if this has been discussed before and I missed it. Thanks.)

After a redshirt season in 2017-18, Nancy Mulkey is listed as a RS-Sophomore on the Rice roster.

I "think" I read this summer of a foot injury. Her twitter says nothing other than that she is finally happy: eligible and out of some relationship that led to depression.

Thanks. I was guessing that she had an injury, as those seem to be too common in WBB.

Yep, she injured her wrist in practice before the season. Not expected to miss the full season, but is out indefinitely.

There were times when Mulkey looked like she was going to be a future force for OU and other times when she didn’t look like she played basketball before... but all in all she’s avg 12 points, 4 rebounds, and she has 29 blocks in 22 minutes a game in a total of 9 games played... does anyone know the real reason she transferred? I’ve heard it was over a jursey number, I thought maybe she couldn’t handle the demands of playing high level D1 basketball, and she wanted to face up and shoot a few 3 pointers a game, but I see she hasn’t taken any this season... surely she would be a big help to OU this season, her transfer also hurt our 2017 post recruiting needs...

Dungee’s situation seemed to be more of a looking for a bigger role type thing, she has the green light and I believe leads the Razorbacks in shot attempts with 263, while she would be a big help to OU, if we had her and Ana on the team we might have missed out on some key guards we have now in Madi and Taylor.

Well, Rice is 14-3 on the season and Arkansas is 14-5 and just beat Tennessee in Knoxville.

Rice stays undefeated (7-0) in C-USA with a 55-43 win at UAB, which falls to 6-2.

Oklahoma transfer 6'8" Nancy Mulkey came close to a triple-double: 14 points, 10 rebounds, 8 blocks.

She had a career high 20 points the game before... seems like she’s really turned it around, and could be her Conference POY in the future.

No question the loss of Mulkey put the team in a bad position, like I said before I’m sure Sherri thought she would be our 4 year starter, and I’m sure didn’t feel the need to look for post in 2017 with EJ still on the team for 3 seasons... I’m also sure not many top post would have been willing to set on the bench with a McDonald’s All American in front of them for 3 seasons, a Mulkey/Madi could have been a good combo for 2 years, not to mention with a guard like Tatum on the team, having a big target to pass to would have showed off her skills more...

After the first eight starts, Nancy was averaging only about 4 rebounds. She still isn't big on the boards, always was good at shot blocking. But, her competition isn't anything like what she would see in the Big Twelve. It will take getting into the tournament to see how she plays against talent.

Isn't that the same UAB team that beat Sherri's crew 89-84 early in the season on a neutral court? Rice held them to 43, yikes!!
