We have read (and seen) how Mulkey is used in high school. IMO, if Sherri allows her to get away from the basket, it will be a huge mistake. We will have no rebounding at all! We know that Maddie is not rebounding the ball and I will address below. Nancy should be able to make more than 60% of her field goals when shooting within 6 ft of the basket. She will not shoot nearly that well at 12 ft or more. She should grab 10+ rebounds when playing down low. She won't average 5 if she plays away from the basket. When I look at how Sherri used Courtney and Kaylon, I'm sure she knows the importance of having your big in the best position to score and rebound. The best position is down low.

I have no idea why Maddie EVER plays at the top of the circle. She isn't producing meaningful scoring from there and she averages ONE rebound per game. Compare that to Joanna, Leah, Amanda, and Sharane and you see that the production we are getting from Maddie is pitiful. Kim darn sure doesn't allow Davis to run all over the court and her numbers are those of an All-American. Put Maddie's butt down low and we might see a significant increase in scoring and rebounding. If not, put EJ in and see if she can produce.

Griner is part of the discussion because it's so easy to assume that Nancy will grab 10+ rebounds for us, but Griner had a similar game-changing physique (and stayed down low) and never averaged 10 rebounds.

Actually, Griner played a part of the game away from the basket. I still think that was a mistake by Kim. Griner could have easily averaged double digit rebounding if she would have stayed down low.

Griner pulled the defending post out from the basket when she played high. It left Destiney Williams open under the basket, and she averaged about one rebound fewer than Griner throughout her career.

If Nancy plays high on offense, it may cost offensive rebounds. But, it also pulls their post away from the basket. A Vivi or EJ could have a field day against a smaller forward. Nancy is even more likely to draw someone out since she is a better shooter than Griner was from ten to fifteen.

Most great shot blockers don't pull in 10 or more rebounds, I think its because there always on the move I'd take 7-8 rebounds from Mulkey if it comes with 5 blocks... I expect her numbers to be around 12ppg, 7rpg and 5bpg.

I would be ecstatic with those numbers early in her career. I think she'll alter four shots for every one she blocks.

Her stats are less than that in high school. I sure hope she will improve in college but, I'm not sure she can meet those goals.

I don't know anything about the competition but this is good news:

Big 3 @mulkeynancy @cate_reese Jas Williams all can put up huge numbers for Cy Woods #txinvitational

I know one thing and that is if Mulkey plays as well as Griner we will all be very happy people!

It may very well be that how she will be used will depend on (1) who her fellow team members are and (2) who we are playing. You would guess that she will play most all of every game insofaras she can.

Apparently, Cypress Woods beat The Woodlands, 69-29. The Woodlands was 2-1, losing to Cypress Ranch, winning over Westfield and Benjamin Davis.

Griner was/is freakishly athletic which I don't think Mulkey is. But, I don't think she has to be as athletic as Griner to be as productive.

From looking at the boxes on MaxPreps, it appears that Nancy was injured in the first game and has missed the last four prior to today's game. Cypress Woods is 4-1 without her. The wins tended to be by about ten. Today, Nancy was back, and they won by forty.

She has only missed 3 games this year. Basically the last tournament
