Nancy

Nancy finished with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 blocked shots. She also had three assists. With Cypress winning 69-29, I doubt she played much after the first quarter during which the tweet indicated that she had almost a triple double.

I just find it interesting you're an expert on everything - recruiting, offense, defense, how to use players. There's literally nothing you don't know how to do better than Sherri Coale. It's quite humorous. I am trying to figure out how our program has been so successful with a coach who fails to do so many things well.

I've never seen a poster as high on his own opinion with such limited information. You honestly have no idea why Coale
runs the program the way she does. You just make assumptions.

Let me ask again, do you see anything about the program that you disagree with or do you just like to attack the opinions of others?

Just my opinion and my opinion alone......until you figure out how to REALLY compete for national championshipS, there is always room for improvement. How you go about improving your team/program is totally up to the coaches. Also there is a difference in saying you're competing and actually putting yourself in position to compete.

True SS.

That is why I have found it so humorous that so many praise Kim when she was able to win only one NC even with Griner - about as good a recruit as you she will ever bring in. It isn't all about recruiting. You must know how to coach them and how to build a team. It is inexcusable that she was not able to win 3 or 4 NC's with her.

It not only takes talent and coaching, it takes luck as well. You can have all the talent in the world but, if one or more players has a bad game, you go home.

N Texas has some hungry players. Next year 5 transfers will eligible to compete and the three early signees. N Texas will be good.

Boy, UCONN must have really been lucky the past few years then.

Not lucky at all.....they just have more players that are of the better caliber. They have McDonald's all Americans on the bench, so that allows them to have a couple of players with bad games.

Great point! Most teams don't have 1 McDonalds All-American, they have several.

Speaking of McDonalds AA, when we have had them, we normally were really good. Nancy should make the team and Llanusa has a chance if she continues to improve. Sherri needs to bring in 1 or 2 more and we could be really good in the future.

UConn fans often claim that the 2002 UConn team was their best. Others claim that it was the best team in history. OU went to the finals against that team. That suggests that Sherri is capable of getting to the top.

I agree. Kim should have at least won 2 titles with Griner and O. Sims. She can recruit but you also have to be like a GM and make a complete team that compliments each other. I think she has the team this year and next to get to the title game.

Norm, that has been the case more than once. CP era is a good example. We have been perpetually short of an outstanding power forward although Sherri has recruited any number of them.

We have read (and seen) how Mulkey is used in high school. IMO, if Sherri allows her to get away from the basket, it will be a huge mistake. We will have no rebounding at all! We know that Maddie is not rebounding the ball and I will address below. Nancy should be able to make more than 60% of her field goals when shooting within 6 ft of the basket. She will not shoot nearly that well at 12 ft or more. She should grab 10+ rebounds when playing down low. She won't average 5 if she plays away from the basket. When I look at how Sherri used Courtney and Kaylon, I'm sure she knows the importance of having your big in the best position to score and rebound. The best position is down low.

I have no idea why Maddie EVER plays at the top of the circle. She isn't producing meaningful scoring from there and she averages ONE rebound per game. Compare that to Joanna, Leah, Amanda, and Sharane and you see that the production we are getting from Maddie is pitiful. Kim darn sure doesn't allow Davis to run all over the court and her numbers are those of an All-American. Put Maddie's butt down low and we might see a significant increase in scoring and rebounding. If not, put EJ in and see if she can produce.
The UCLA mens team has a player named Thomas Welsh, who has a very similar skill set to that of Nancy, and he has a very similar build (7'0 and very long wingspan). He has a solid 15 foot jumper. On offense UCLA uses him as the four player and a much more physical, although a bit shorter, player at the five. although they don't do that for every single possession, there are times where welsh posts up and gets the easy lay in. On defense Welsh covers the opposing teams center for his shot blocking ability. Again, I am not saying this should be done every single possession with Nancy, but this could be done with Vivi who has shown she can score very efficiently around the basket and rebound very well.
